I may be late to the party on this issue, but just found out that if I purchase a gift card at Sephora the purchase points don't go towards my Insider account (I'm not VIB status), but will go to the the recipient's account (if they have one) when they redeem it. The website says you get a point for every dollar spent on "merchandise"...and don't count the money the purhaser spends because the gift cards aren't merchandise.

So if everyone but me knew this, be gentle in your ridicule...but if anyone else was clueless like me it can be a PSA! Frustrating...and I've purchased my last Sephora GC!
