I recently got the Tan Towel special because they looked like they would be quick. My question is I put lotion all over my legs and extra lotion on my knees, ankles and feet. Let it dry and I still have awful looking ankles and feet and hardly put any of the Tan Towel on those areas. Any one have any suggestions??? Thanks in advance.

Do you exfoliate those areas prior to application? I've never used Tan Towels (I'm a St. Tropez girl), but this would be my first suggestion.

Not sure why you would put lotion all over your legs? the areas that need the lotion are knees, feet, elbows.
When I used TT for first time of the season, I would use about 5 on first day. Use 2, wait a few hours, use 2 more, than one more few hours later. Only way I could get any color to start.

I use 1 TT after I have showered and scrubbed w/Salux cloth. I take the TT and rub in circular motions all over but more lightly on knees, elbow and smoothly over ankles. I am of Scots descent so no natural tan here, but w/TT I have natural color (biscuit shade) the next morning. If this wasn't easy I would not be doing it.

Yeah, I never really understood the lotion thing, either. I've been self tanning for many years, using various brands, and have never done this (anywhere on my body).
I hear the vendors giving this advice often, but I've always wondered how the color could really saturate any area that was "lotioned" first. If I exfoliate properly, I never have any issues around my ankles, elbows, etc.

I think lotion would act as a barrier to TT, so I wait until the next day to apply lotion or moisturizer.

Never liked the Tan Towel and have used almost everything- THEy made me orange. I'm not a big faux-tanner. I just use it a little in the spring and mostly just on my face & arms. Don't use it all during the summer. My favorites are Clarins and Tarte.

OP - can you tell us what you mean by "awful-looking"? Do you mean streaky, patchy, the color itself, etc.? Maybe we'd be able to give you more suggestions.
