Self Tanner

Does Carolyn use a self-tanner? I'm really confused on which one to try. All the reviews I've read say St Tropez Mousse w/mitt, but Tarte on this website is surpassing St Tropez. Lisa Robertson says she only uses Bare Minerals self-tanner that was the TSV the other day with the brush but I thought I she said she was using Kate Somerville towlettes. I've never used self tanner but really just want legs and arms and what's a good exfoliant to use before applying? Someone I know tried Kate Somerville Exfolikate and said that it irritated her skin.
