Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Hi everyone, regulars and lurkers. Janet, you still on the forums? We haven't heard from you in ages.

Mostly repeats tonight.

Doglover, you certainly have quite a cast of characters at that diner. Probably because it's so late you see things you might not during usual meal-times. I guess it's good that everyone feels safe enough to dress the way they really want to there. Not a bad thing but sure must be surprising. I think once you get to the point of surgery it isn't just cross-dressing, but who knows. There is an excellent mini-series on Netflix but you can watch if you have Amazon Prime. It was called "Transparent". Excellent acting, I enjoyed it. Sheds light on cross-dressing.

You never know, that kit could have been perfect, so you gave it a shot.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Desi, yes, with all the 24/7 diners around here you do see a lot of characters and really no one pays any attention at all or gives a second look.

I had several Christmas movies recorded, some new some old but when he dozes off I watch them or if he is reading which he loves to do I watch what he calls my sappy love stories.

I have the kit packed and ready to go back. The only thing I can say I like is the mascara but even that I don't know if I would order it since I really like my Mabelline volume express one by one in the big fat orange tube and my Mally volumizing mascara. I do like the Benefit They're Real but only in the mini wand, much easier to handle and use.

We don't get netflix or Amazon Prime(never heard of this one).

been a busy week so far.

We went to a buffet for dinner, odd one, one of a kind I guess. This place has a buffet for $7 every Monday and Tuesday but we only like it in summer when they have the grill on the patio and you can get sausage, burgers, dogs, grilled veggies and asparagus which I love but only go in summer and only once a month. They put a coupon in the paper every week for $2 off a buffet for every person in your party. Once a month they put a coupon in for BOGO free.

Anyway, they started something new, on Wednesdays they now have customer appreciation day and you order from a limited menu, 8 oz. NY strip steak with mushrooms and onions, flounder stuffed with crab meat, liver and onions, meatloaf, 1/2 roast chicken and seafood newburg over pasta. You then get your choice of 2 sides, also limited to oven roasted red potatoes, glazed carrots, mixed veggies or applesauce. Then you go to the cold salad bar where you can have all you want plus a soup table with 2 soups of the day, a dessert table and a beverage bar(coffee, tea hot or cold, water and coke. They serve you your entree than with everything else you help yourself to all you want. On the way out there is a lady that sits at a table with a small basket for tips. You hand the lady whatever you think your meal was worth and what you want to pay for it. Can you believe this? You would be surprised how many don't put a cent in the tip basket and pay only $5 for 2 people.

I can't see how they will keep something like this going if people do things like this, really cheap people I think, would be embarrassed to hand the lady $5 for 2 people when their regular buffet is $7 for each person and that doesn't include steak or fish stuffed with crab.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Doglover, good you have stuff taped, only some new stuff tonight and lot's of repeats.

Amazon Prime is paying for a year free shipping on selected items. You get some perks like free movies, but they are things I saw 10 yrs ago or so for the most part.

I don't know how that diner makes a profit even at their regular prices. The diner owners probably don't care if you tip since that isn't going towards their profits. Unless they take the tips.

I use mascara so infrequently they have to be pitched barely used.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Desi, I too rarely use mascara but also line my eyes top and bottom since they do need something, either liner or mascara and liner is easier to do and wash off. I use either grey, green or plum on the top and like that Mally navy/black that came in her TSV kit for the bottom. My liner stays till I wash it off 12 to 16 hours later so am happy with that.

I am just as happy with my Maybelline volume express one by one mascara in the big fat orange tube.

I also really really like the Milani EASYBROW automatic pencil in dark brown 02. It is identical to the IT 5 in 1 gel powder brow pencil, identical and can be picked up at some Walgreens and some CVS stores. I haven't checked Walmarts to see if they carry that or not. Anyway, is really nice and can't believe the price.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Jan, sure hope you recover by Christmas and start the new year out feeling great. We too got the flu shot but told you can still get it but won't be as strong although they are now saying there is a strain of the flu that this shot won't have any affect on unfortunately so that may be what you have?

Good to see you and hope you pop in more often.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Doglover, that place sound great. Makes me wonder though how they make a profit.

I heard that about the flu shot, something like only 32% effective this year.

Jan, sorry, the flu is scary and awful. You did what you could to avoid it, sometimes we can't. Hope you feel as good as you can until it's gone. Thanks for the Hanukkah wishes!

Got my neck x-rayed today. Hoping I didn't catch anything given I still have the end of my current cold.

If you didn't see the finale (forever) of White Collar last night, see if you can watch it. Good epi, won't discuss til you've all seen it.

Desi, did watch the end of White Collar, always liked that one so sad to see it gone, was a good ending though.

Hope you get good news on your neck Xray.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Doglover, not sure if our Kohl's is open all night, but I'd never go that late. Late yes, but I'd be too sleepy to shop that late. It's not close anyway, so no temptation to try! Glad yours is though and it is easy for you to shop then.

Just ducky, my x-ray results will be available Dec.25! How convenient, if I am freaked out there won't be anyone to explain them to me. Maybe her office will get them before and contact me.

I will miss White Collar. Kind of want to see that epi again and catch the little things I missed.

Not sure if our cable co. has that thing but DH would never pay extra for it. He has no trouble taping, only I do.

Re: Scents and Common Sense December Thread

Desi, I am sure they will show WC again. Late night some times if nothing much is on we watch reruns of other shows we like.

boy that su*ks, xrays won't be ready till then, bummer, always something else to worry about.
