I know this is going to be an unpopular statement.  I've had an emotional day so please be nice Smiley Happy  I don't consider SPF or try to buy products with it in it.  There!  I said it Smiley Happy  It feels good to come out of the SPF closet!

I don't "do" sun.  Don't like it, never have.  Not a sports person.  Not a gardener.  We do't do our own lawn or landscaping.  Don't have a pool.  I'm a night person so you can find me outside late at night petting things like donkeys, horses, some cows and playing fetch with the Dingo.  I don't walk the dog.  He has an acre to run in and chase bunnies...or armadillos!  Leave the house about 1x a week.  Pre-covid maybe 2x a week.   My makeup has a little in it.  Not like the IT foundation.  I'm looking at the CC+ Oil Free Matte with SPF 40.  What does that much SPF do to the color, consistency/texture and wearablity of the product?

Relax..................you have some non-SPF sisters out here.  I tried CC and threw it away.  When I hear facial produce has it - I don't buy.  I want a little natural sun glow but am not out in the direct sun much and since I wear Revlon liquid don't think much sun can get through - wish it could.

So whatever your point is - SPF might change the color ......?....I avoid it at all cost.   So - again - relax....I believe it's just another selling point.

@monicakm

It's sad that anyone would actually spend a second judging you because you don't wear SPF!  Good grief, I live beach front on a tropical island & I don't slather myself in SPF every day & could care less what others might think.  Now, when I decide to hang out on the beach instead of enjoying the coolness of my AC indoors, I do wear SPF, but by no means do wear it for intermittent exposure.  I'd rather have the Vitamin D!  Don't be so hard on yourself. Woman Very Happy

I live in Arizona and during the summer months I stay inside too. I don't wear SPF either unless I'm going to be outside for a longer period of time but usually from April till October I'm inside 99.9% of the time.

I never buy makeup with SPF nor do I buy moisturizers with it either. If I need sun protection then I wear a stand-alone sunscreen product when needed. I sure as heck don't need any sunscreen inside my house or at night.  I don't need it to run out and get the mail. There is a very short period of time that I do wear SPF and then it comes off as fast as I can take it off.

I think most users get a false sense of security when it comes to their spf products.  I doubt anyone uses the correct amount or reapplies every two hours as they should.  I don't purposely avoid SPF but I also won't spend the extra money in order to get a higher amount.  If a product I want has some, so be it.  If it doesn't, I'm OK with that.  My current AM moisturizer has a whopping SPF 15. There's some in the BB Cream and foundations I have, but the amounts vary.  I do take supplements that provide sun protection and I don't spend endless hours outdoors everyday.  I do believe some sun exposure is healthy.

To answer your question, @monicakm, I don't think the SPF affects the color of the CC cream.  The shade is the shade.  JMO

Do you all have any idea if how much magnified sun you absorb when you ride in a car?  I didn't either until my dermatologist/surgeon at the cancer center pointed it out to me.  I'm not a sun lover, have always spent minimal time in the sun, am very fair and have had two rather extensive surgeries several years apart to remove malignant cancers on my face.  That'll change your mind about SPFs fast.

You're not alone.  If I happen to buy a foundation or whatever with SPF, it's just an accident.  I will not wear a separate SPF on a daily basis because it makes my oily complexion too greasy.  Gives me breakouts.  Plus, I don't need another layer of goo on my face.  Every SPF I've ever owned stated on the package to re-apply every 2 hours to be effective.  Really?  am I going to wash off my foundation every 2 hours so that I can apply a fresh layer of SPF?  No.

If I'm going outside to work in the yard for an hour or more, I will wear SPF.   My doctor has told me several times that the best way to get Vitamin D in your body is to sit out in the sun 20 minutes a day.  I try to catch a few rays every day when I can.

I do keep a container of ColorScience SPF face powder in my purse, just in case.

I don't like SPF in makeup and prefer a product developed to protect skin from harmful sun rays.  It always boggles my mind why companies put SPF in makeup when they all have skincare which has better efficacies of the treatment benefits they claim the makeup has.

@monicakm   OK, touchy subject for me, but I will try to be nice. If you're "never" out during the day, why bother with a foundation that has spf at all? Those two times a week that you may be out, even in the car, will cause sun damage. If aging is not an issue, find a foundation w/o spf and then color, texture and wearability are not an issue.
