Ok ladies I need some help. I’ve always been told that my SPF should go on first thing, on clean, bare skin and to let it absorb in before doing my serum, moisturizer and primer. But earlier I read someone saying that SPF should be my LAST step before primer.... any thoughts?

Re: SPF - first step or last?

@Smc09: I apply my serums and wait a while then apply sunscreen last. Never done it any other way. Foundation after sunscreen.

Serums are thin and sunscreeen sis thick, at least mine is, so serums would never absorb thru that

It goes on after skincare products and before applying foundation or bronzer. Serums and other skincare products need to be applied to clean skin first so they can do they job. If you apply sunscreen first then you will most likely lose the effects of your skincare products.

Sunscreen should be the last product that you put on your face.

Re: SPF - first step or last?

@Smc09  Sunscreen is the last thing you apply when doing your morning skincare routine. It you wear foundation, it will already be on your face because you applied it as your last thing when doing your skincare. Give your sunscreen 15-20 minutes to set BEFORE applying foundation.

Re: SPF - first step or last?

Thank you all so so much! I had always worn foundation with SPF in it so never had to apply it separately but here recently had to switch foundations and it no longer had it.
I had started to wonder about my other products not being able to absorb properly because of my SPF going on first and being so thick.
So thankful for a community of helpful ladies Smiley Happy

Re: SPF - first step or last?

@Smc09, your skin will be better protected using a separate SPF. There have been numerous discussions on here about an SPF in foundation. It's a definite no. You need a good dollop of SPF and no way would anyone wear that much foundation.

Re: SPF - first step or last?

I simply use Eucerin Cream with sunscreen (SPF 60) and go right to my MU from there.
