I just received the 3 pack in the mail today, and my goodness, I wasn't quite prepared for the smell of these. Am I the only one who thinks these balms smell horrible? {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

I'm really disappointed because I had been on the fence about ordering the Balm for the last few months, and finally took the plunge with the 3 pack in Original, Boysenberry, and Mango.

But each smells worse than the last! I don't know if I will be able to wear these balms so close to my nose throughout the day. And I would feel almost embarrassed to give these as gifts. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

For those who are long-time users of the Lip 6x balm, does the smell eventually lessen? I'm hoping that the fragrance is so pungent merely because the packaging has just been opened. TIA!

Uh oh, I just ordered them for the first time from everyone raving about them. No one ever mentioned a horrible smell.

CM, is the smell from added fragrance, do you think, or just from the ingredients themselves?

I'm thinking it's the added fragrance, although none of them smell anything like their namesakes. The best I can describe them as is a heavily sweetened syrup that's gone bad, with a burned butterscotch base note (if any of that makes any sense) lol! Ugh, it's just bad!

I don't ever remember reading about the smell, either. Perhaps they actually smell lovely, and it's just my brain chemistry that is interpreting them this way. (I'll admit that I am sensitive to smells.) That's why I'm posting here, to see if anyone else feels the balms smell horrible.

According to the ingredient deck, Flavor (Aroma) is added.

Yes, it does have a distinctively artificial smell.

I know that some like fragranced skin care (face) and cosmetics, but I'm not one of them. I much prefer fragrance-free in general and wish more companies didn't feel the need to add fragrance unless it's necessary for some reason.

I posted about those yesterday that they're horrible and I threw them in the trash. But Sometimes I'm invisible on these boards. Oh well I tried to tell ya.

I agree. There is no need, IMO, to add fragrance to facial skincare or cosmetics. I'll take my fragrance in body lotions or perfumes only, please. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

The reason I purchased the 3 pack fragranced balm was because the product is so well reviewed and I have always suffered from dry, flaky lips.

Typically I wear unfragranced lip care, but was willing to take a chance with the Lip 6x to see if it was really a HG product.
