Ladies, don't forget the Compact threads that are monthly here on the beauty board. The Compact thread also deals with over buying and simplify one's life.

There was also a SIMPLIFY thread started by 3redheads. I can't find it now but am fairly new to these forums so I may be looking in the wrong place. I will try the Compact thread also as I love reading suggestions for not buying anymore stuff and am getting lots of tips.

@bluebellePA--this is the continuation of the Simplify thread by 3redheads.

Well, it may be that I get a lot of work done this weekend. We're supposed to have up to 14" of snow between Saturday and Sunday! I hope they are wrong. But if they aren't, I can really focus on my guest room. The worst of it is done--cleaning off the bed, but I have the closet to do.

So far so good this week . No spending unneccesarily. I was looking around in CVS and was considering buying some vitamins and other supplements. Then I told myself that I need to actually take the supplements I already have at home.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} I buy them and then take them sometimes and forget a lot. So I will try to use up and take what I have on hand.

Unfortunately, I have not done any decluttering so far and am behind on regular housework too. So I will try to get back on track.

I'm hanging in, but have not gotten much done this week, (hubby home sick most of the week), still have a couple dresser drawers to go through and they are stuffed, ugh! Working on them this morning. Do the rest of you have trouble getting motivated when your DH is home or is it just me? Other than minimal food expenses, the only other things I have purchased are some supplies for painting the kitchen which I may start on next week, will see how it goes.

Snickster, I do not get motivated when my hubby is home on weekends, during the week I get so much more done, there is such a difference....I will have to someday change my whole routine when he is home all day retired....I am sure a lot of us can relate...I looked it up, it was you who had the plumping problems, did you get that resolved?

I am not so good on my decluttering this week...I am so back logged on house cleaning, that is taking my time....since it is so cold here, we layer clothes & the laundry has been unreal....if I don't stay on top of it it just piles up, I am doing load after load...bathrooms all need cleaning...what a non ending cycle LOL...and the there is cooking, dishes, blah, blah, blah.....going to try this afternoon to tackle some bills & papers

I see that some of you have been working on your guest rooms. I had to deal with mine last weekend, since the grandkids were coming. I had stacks of clothes, bags, and shoes all over the place. I need to thin them out. If it's not one thing, it's another. lol

AnnMarie1, yes plumbing issue taken care of, thank goodness. Plumbing issues just bring me to a stand still, even if what I am working on doesn't involve water. And I can foresee myself becoming a vegetable when hubby retires, unless I can light a fire under him, which hasn't happened yet, lol.

Hello everyone, here's my update. All our bedrooms now have beautiful hardwood floors, and walls are freshly painted. Closets and dressers cleaned out. We chose pictures to hang in the rooms yesterday (and were really careful about what went back on the walls so as not to clutter them with too much). The only thing left is closet doors. We had cheaper bifolds on them, and DH wants to get nice all-wood ones, so we are watching for a sale. I have to say, I don't mind looking at the closet interiors since they are so tidy lol!!!

We took probably 20 bags and boxes to Goodwill in the past 2 weeks. What a great feeling to unload all that stuff.

We live in a tri-level, and the next project is painting the living room/kitchen. Then we have to tackle pictures. Right now most of the wall pics and photos have been taken down and moved to our lower level (DH's "Man Cave."). We're going to take a lot of the photos out of frames and put them in albums, and most likely get rid of some decorative wall stuff. I love the clean look of not so much on the walls in the bedrooms, and want that all over the house.

So....we've spent some money, but made our house so much more comfortable and enjoyable to live in! And donated a ton of stuff we didn't need/use.

It's really helped to have recently retired DH spearheading this. He is a real Worker Bee....dives in and works until the project is completed!!!! We never would have made all this headway without him doing so much.

Good luck to all with your projects and plans!
