This is week two of year two for me. I have been curtailing purchases for the past year, with a goal of retiring in four years. Sold some things on eBay. No expenditures except for major car repairs this week - yikes - but it is cheaper than buying a new car and having a car payment.

Hi Ladies, I just wanted to say that I have not watched any of the shopping channels since signing up.
I have seen a few shows I wanted to tune into when looking on the Guide and just scrolled on by.
Thanks for all the terrific hints and advice. I think I will do a lot better at not buying than cleaning out what I have. Your advice is appreciated.
Keep up the good work
Don't forget to watch Elle is for Living on You tube. She gives great advice and it is free.

We have so many ladies (maybe a few gents?) who post for support and I read every post and you all inspire me. Has it been really easy to resist buying? No, but I read everyone's stories and you help me resist.
Will we completely stop buying? No, but hopefully, we will think long and hard about every purchase. We will learn to appreciate what we have and quit collecting things like jewelry, handbags etc.
How is everyone doing this week?
Just curious ..... have you ever given any thought as to WHY you would buy something you know you don't need?

I often buy things I don't need when I'm down and looking for a "lift." It's a temporary solution and it doesn't solve anything. I would imagine that part of this effort to simplify is looking at why we buy things we don't need and trying to change that pattern.

Good Morning All!!
Wow, it's week 2 here and I must say I'm happy that I have not even looked at QVC's homepage. Have no idea what has been on and I don't feel like I've missed anything.
I come here every morning and read all the posts that I've missed and it really has helped me. Like I said in an earlier thread, I had been thinking really hard about stopping the home shopping.
Vaccinia you are so right about breaking our shopping pattern and looking at why we buy things we don't need. I think after so many years of shopping on the Q, I have finally hit tilt and for whatever reason, whatever triggered me to shop is suddenly not there. I can only hope that the way I feel now lasts.
Everyone have a great day and congrats to all of us for starting out our New Year on a better note!!!![]()

Good morning.
I returned a necklace that I ordered before I made this commitment to be mindful of what I'm buying. It was very nice but I don't need it. I have enough jewelry.
It's so helpful to come here and read all the encouraging comments and tips.
