I have been reading a minimalist blog since last summer....and I've really cut waaay back on "stuff". I like the premise that minimalism does not have to be bare rooms, just keep what you USE or really LOVE. I have gone through every single room in my house, basement, garage, everything. Mind you, this project has been going on for at least 7 months now. I just went through my make up, tossed everything that didn't get regular use. I have always been a person who did a "purge" a few times a year, but this is a real focus on simplicity and usefulness. I saw a person on Facebook say that instead of giving up something for Lent, they were filling a big bag each day for 40 days of items to donate. With that in mind, I've gone back through and found even more I could get rid of. I don't actually have enough left to put together 40 bags but I went with a FULL car today, backseat and truck packed. Library and Goodwill got a haul today! I also have put myself in check on spending....I don't want to waste $ on stuff that will get donated. I ONLY buy what I KNOW I will use. My closet has really been thinned out but what I have, I wear. Simplicity feels good.

I like the idea of filling a bag to donate daily for the 40 days of Lent!
Cleaned out my collection of makeup today. Tidying up around the house as appraiser is coming tomorrow afternoon. Next week DS will be home on spring break. I'm sure he will spend some time with me decluttering the basement storage area, especially if I let him sleep late! Judging from the amount of stuff going to the curb for recycling tomorrow, I am chipping away at things here.
Doing well at keeping spending in check. Trying to buy as little as possible for spring clothing, etc especially since spring is all too short here and is showing no sign of starting. I'm sure I need to add little or nothing to my spring wardrobe.

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, but today I need a little 'talking out of' the TSV of the Perricone. I don't know why this is so attractive to me, as I've used an item of Perricone here and there and not had the 'dramatic' results that Dana promises. Nevertheless I'm SOOOO tempted!
Also, I've been having exceptionally drying skin issues this winter - especially around the eyes - to the point of raw, red, itchy, scaly issues. I think i've finally found a combo that is helping - Acure Argan oil for $12.99 and Cerave cream for $14.99! So tell me why I'm having trouble not ordering this Perricone kit for $40 per month!
I must be crazy....Please talk me out of it!

You're right! For that $40 a month, I can get a WHOLE lot of Linea! It's not so much the money - although I'm not so nutty that it doesn't matter at all - but I'm so hoping for results! What I've been using isn't turning the clock back and only seems to be keeping my face from becoming a red flaky mess. I know wanting products to make one look younger is wishful thinking on my part, but darn, Dana and the hosts are making this set seem like the second coming!

Sammijo, have you checked e-bay for those Perricone products? I do that all the time & it is amazing the items I have found way cheaper, I just bought some Creme De La Mer for a fraction of the retail price & my skin needs it now, SO dry!

Creme De La Mer on ebay? Holy cow! I know the dryness this winter is incredible. Thanks to info on this board I finally tried Argan oil and low and behold, it seems to be helping. Of course I go to bed feeling like a salad, but I don't wake up feeling like Lawrence of Arabia, either.
Thanks for the tip, I'll go browse e-bay and by that time, they'll be onto one time onlies!

Good Morning everyone!
I didn't do much decluttering this weekend, as I was out of town, but on my day off yesterday, I did some groceries and tidied up around the kitchen. I did buy a small 2.5 qt pot as I'd gotten rid of the one I was using that was not in very good condition, but so far, this is the only purchase I've made of this nature in the past 5 or 6 months, at the very least.
I also started setting aside the clothing I've worn over the past two days, as per this month's challenge. I have this suspicion that before the next week is out, I'm just going to go back into my drawers and closet and start eliminating stuff I had originally anticipated wearing but for whatever reason, didn't. It's becoming easier to do that.
I do have to say that finding my stuff these days is incredibly easy since I purged all of the useless items that were taking up space at home. If I can get it down to even less, it would be even better.

Tackled a kitchen cupboard where my cookbooks and recipes were stored. Went through all the "ripped out" magazine/newspaper recipes and if I truly felt I'd make the dish I copied it on a card and put it in my recipe box. The rest I tossed (everything is online these days!).
I had probably 15 cookbooks. I kept 5 that I actually use. The rest I divided up between my DD and DIL, who were happy to get them. All the little paperback freebie ones that came with products I tossed.
Oh yeah, we used something yesterday that I had purchased from the Q many years ago. Anyone remember that aluminum plate that would remove tarnish from your jewelry and silverware? My DIL wanted a vintage silverplate set for Christmas, and we found one at a great price at an antique store (we shop all year and put away for Christmas). It needed a good polishing, so i got out the "plate" and washing soda and cleaned it up. My husband was quite impressed at how well it worked!!! The set looks beautiful now, and we saved time and $ running to the store for silver polish by using what we already had.
