At SEOHORA, I'm only $280 away from maintaining my VIBROUGE status before Dec. 31st. I really don't need anything but could buy a gift card to use in 2017. I never took advantage of the makeover offers, private parties at the store or introductory products (first dibs). It was nice getting free shipping in 2 days w/ no minimum purchase. The 250 point reward gifts are meh!, but some of the 500 point gift were OK. ULTA just opened a few minutes from my house. Their point system seems like a better deal, but I'm kind of turned off that each week I receive an email or a circular in the paper w/ coupons, but there are so many exceptions! It seems all brand name products are not included in the discount coupons. So I have a short time to decide SEPHORA VS ULTA?

I enjoy Sephora, I can save my points.  They do not go away.  In my area the Sephora customer service seems to be friendlier.  Good luck.

I have really cut down on my beauty expenditures in the last year or so.  I find that I shop both places because each carries items that the other one does not.

Since I live in a greater metro area there are no shortage of stores, but Ulta is the closest to me.  I still find I prefer to buy online most of the time.

I have shopped in both store locations and online.  For me Ulta has the best prices, coupons, and sales.  I also like that I can get both drugstore and high-end products at Ulta.

I'd save your money.  While you won't have Rouge status, you'll still be a VIB and have access to all the point perks.  I'm a VIB and it works for me.

This.

Also Ulta offers sooooo many more gifts with purchased (especially online) than Sephora.  And their point system is better too -- your points turn into money that you can spend however you want instead of just choosing from products Sephora lays out for you.

not a fan of Ulta, their DS products are overpriced compared to other places I can buy the same.

They keep their in-store inventory extremely low and the stores always look messy

and unstocked.

I much prefer Sephora.  The sales associates are so much nicer as is their C.S.

Re: SEPHORA VS ULTA

[ Edited ]

Depends on what you're looking for:

*Sephora VIB Rouge offers 20% off EVERYTHING in October and you get first dibs at it as well.

*Ulta offers 20% off most items (but not all unless you are the VERY lucky recipient of the 20% off EVERYTHING coupon) but gives you actual dollars off products. Doesn't matter what you buy, you'll earn points on it. When they offer triple or 5x the points, it adds up QUICKLY. Those points converted to dollars can be used on anything in the store and if you're platinum, they don't expire.

Personally, I think ULTA offers a much better perk as you can use your dollars online as well. The perks at Sephora are simply samples and I rarely use mine (which is why mine total in the high thousands).

I shop at Sephora a few times a year but make my major purchase during the VIB Rouge event (which keeps me VIB Rouge through the next year). I purchase fragrance, skin care and skin care devices (if needed) all at 20% off plus free 2 day shipping; this is the only time I can purchase many of these brands at a discount. If Ulta carried the exact same brands.... I would purchase from Ulta ONLY as the points to dollars is a far better deal (in the long run).

I much prefer Ulta especially with their perks they give you. When you accumulate points you actually get dollars off your purchase and not just points to get a free gift which I now have over $1,000 points and never like anything they are offering.  I'm a platnium member at Ulta and some of the coupons I get there are no exclusions or very little.  I find the sales people at Ulta are nice and not so pushy as Sephora.
