I was looking for a root touch up and, while there are several choices, all are more expensive than just buying a my regular Color Silk Medium Ash Brown.
Seems silly to pay twice as much for less product.
Think I'll just keep doing my regular monthly color. I normally just do the roots and a bit further into my hair then, so I'm not sure there would be any advantage to buying the product just for roots.
Am I missing something?

If you are, so am I. That's what I do. I use my normal shade and just do the roots. Works great to cover my gray.

I don't buy a special root product either. I always use my normal color and just do my roots.

The root touch-up kits process in around 10 minutes so that's about the only advantage I can see in them.

Use your regular hair color, just use half from each of the bottles, mix them together in a separate bottle, but save the other halves for next time you do just roots, hair color can stay indefinitely if not mixed.

Now why didn't I think of that! Making my regular hair color go even further.
Smart!

I used a root touch up kit this morning. I think it's worth $5.99 for the ease of use. Ten minutes, perfect color match, no worries about keeping dye products hanging around.

Never a worry, if they are not mixed, I have kept them for years.

ITA! I have done it.

I believe the actual root touch-up kits are meant to only last for around two weeks -- enough to get you through to your next coloring date. I love the idea of using my regular box shade and using only half -- GENUIS! And besides, I can't get a good color match with the limited root touch-up shades offered.
