Re: Root Touch Up

[ Edited ]

I used the Clairol Root Touch Up on Saturday morning. I got the one that's in a tube with a brush on the end. The only place it didn't take well was on both sides of my face just above my ears a few inches. I redid both sides but they still didn't take well. It's not a big deal because of the way my hair falls you don't really notice. Other places it took very nicely. But I thought it was weird.

What I liked about using the brush is that there was no dripping or splattering, I rushed it though and missed some areas. Well it's hard to be holding up a mirror with one hand so you can look at the back of your head in another mirror and still get the job done nicely.

The minus.....of course you have to rinse it out well but the directions said that for the best results do not wash your hair for 3 or 4 days but you can use a conditioner. I have some WEN fig that I don't like and just use for shaving my legs but gave that a whirl as a leave in conditioner, a very small amount, rather than a rinse out conditioner and it did a nice job of keeping my hair looking decent. This was Saturday....I can't wait to get this hair washed after another cup of coffee. Oh also, knowing I wasn't to shampoo for several days I shampooed & blow dried right before using the root touch up.

Will probably do it again next week, just the places I missed or might wait till when this washes out, but will try to do a more thorough job of it.

@Shanus  Ok. DH says, Do you recognize Esther Manor, Delano Hotel, Fialkoff's?

He stayed at Sadie's Bungalow Colony. I, too went one summer to Monticello.

@Shanus

Hey Shanus, One summer when I was a teenager, I went with a family as their babysitter (tho the kids were not babies) and my best friend went with their friends as their babysitter to a bungalo colony near Monticello. The ones we were in were attached, like a side by side. I can't recall for sure but some might have been singles.

Thursday afternoon & evening was our day off and we would hitchhike into Monticello then hitchhike back. I remember we sometimes went on day drips. The one I do recall is both ladies went to a big hotel, I think it was called Grossman's to get their hair done. My friend and I had to keep the kids busy while they were getting done. The husbands only came up on the weekends. The husband of the family I was with owned or ran a clothing factory in our hometown, a small town in Pa. The other husband I think had something to do with a shoe factory, owned it or ran it.

I also remember somewhere or other we met some teenage boys who were spending the summer as the house band for a motel/hotel kind of place where they gave us a tour one Thursday. It looked old and worn and they said they didn't think anybody staying there was under 100 years old.

I wish I could remember the name of the bungalo colony. Maybe one of these days at 2:00am I'll suddenly wake up with the name in my head and I'll give you a shout out here.

@shaggygirl   I have heard of Grossinger's. My Dad's family owned a large hotel in Spring Glen...about 15 min. from Ellenville. When my Dad was young, it was a functioning farm and then extra buildings added and turned into a hotel. College boys were there each summer as waiters, bus boys, entertainers, etc. It was the real "Dirty Dancing" movie. Loved going up as I got to be a teen. I was "Baby" & never put in the corner!! Lol

A name just popped into my head. Bunalan Acres or BunAllan Acres or some version of that because if I remember correctly it was a combination of the names of the

owners 2 kids. Have no clue what the Bun would be.....Bunny maybe.

Shaggy girl
You mentioned washing hair before applying? I read that it’s better to dye a day after you wash (accepts better).
Someone Correct me if I’m wrong
You mentioned rinsing but not washing for 3 days after applying? I missed that. I washed and conditioned (good thing I have very little)
I will try that next time
