I guess as what passes for entertainment (along with society in general) continues to cut to the lowest common denominator, I don't tend to expect more than what we got. As others have said, there are plenty of more disgusting things than was this exhibition.

I didn't watch the Superbowl. I don't like all the hype and wasn't a fan of either team but went to youtube for the halftime performance. Frankly, it made me sleepy. I didn't find her antics as disgusting as did some. Was she tacky? Of course, that goes with the turf among performers of certain kinds of alleged music these days. Despite her millions and her awards, is her talent marginal? Oh yea. still, I didn't find her repellent as much as I simply found her boring.

There have been some really stellar halftime shows. This wasn't one of them. Perhaps the NFL could seek acts with more universal appeal, and no, they don't have to launch a search for George Strait, Tony Orlando and Dawn or the Lennon Sisters to do it. Some singers rely on talent for their success while others obfuscate limited vocal skills with gyrations, pyrotechnics and light shows, all while lip syncing studio enhanced pre-recordings.

Music used to be about music but more recently everything has become a Vegas review, because the music alone can't sell the act.

She's a billionaire who wanted to show us she was pregnant again.

He all male dancers were good but it was strange and repetitive.

Her catalog of music is not deep enough for her to have a super bowl performance all alone.

@hopi Rihanna's had 14 number one songs. Her catalog is definitely deep enough.

@Love to Run

I know her music and have respect. She did not have to even show up for what she did.

The NFL  put up all the star show they did last year like Snoop, Dr, J, Eminem etc.,  Beyonce brought on Cold Play and Bruno Mars....

Rhinanna more than needed way more help.

Her Beyonce moment in showing us her pregnancy was more narcissistic than entertaining.  The show was boring, her vocals meh, it would be better if they just showed a mix of her old videos.

Sorry not a billionaire worshipper just for the sake of your past accomplishments.

All those dancers and their "choreography" was messy and distracting. The Super Bowl is a family event that didn't sign up for an R-rated show.

Why didn't you just change the channel?  You knew you weren't going to like it.

@RollTide2008 Why can't you respect someone else's opinion and likes and dislikes? She has some valid points.  What happened to the halftime show being family oriented.  What would be wrong with that?

Oh well, then it wouldn't be what YOU like?

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear.  My point is the people complaining about it won't be happy with anything.  OP made a comment prior to the game about hoping it would be appropriate for the "teenage boys and girls" watching.  I was eating wings and half time and clearly not paying that much attention because I didn't feel the need to clutch my pearls or be concerned my teenage son would be scarred.

'Sigh'... Some folks are so put upon by we inferiors one wonders why they're here, consistently sneering at us and using sarcasm, ridicule and mockery, in the attempt to snidely shoot down other points of view. Quite a jump to assume those who didn't enjoy Rihanna wouldn't 'be happy with anything'. While I didn't notice anybody clutching pearls (really, how tired is that...) I do agree that teenagers, anyway, have been exposed to far worse watching (supposed) music videos...

@hopi I agree with most of your comment, my only point of contention was that she couldn't carry the show solo. She absolutely COULD have. I mentioned to my hubby that her energy was low and she clearly didn't rise to the moment. I certainly don't worship her or anybody else, but I do have much respect for a self-made billionaire woman of color. I think maybe her life is so full with Fenty and her growing family she's just not that hungry as a performer anymore.

Yes indeed.  Product Placement.  Again, the whole performance whether one deems it good or bad doesn't matter.  She will not be paid for it.  Celebrities and Stars who perform at the Super Bowl know it's not a paying gig. She also wore stuff that looked like it came from her original Fenty line of gear.

The red coat was paying hommage to Leon Tally.

Rihanna's half time show was watched more than the Superbowl.  This is according to something I read from a news outlet.
