I've had white hair at my temples for at least ten years.
But recently I noticed a few hairs that are growing in in my old brown color...with white ends!
I don't color my hair and haven't since 2019, so I'm baffled. Is this an anomoly or a trend I can expect?
At 58 and fully menopausal I never thought to expect this.
Anyone remember the scene in the 1980's movie, Poltergeist, where the mom suddenly went white at her temples?
She dyed it back.
Maybe she just needed to wait a bit? lol
Seriously though, has anyone experienced a reverse in their graying/silvering hair?

Yes, the under section in the back of my hair has turned an ashy dark brown. It happens.
I have it highlighted to blend with the test if my hair that is blonde with brown sections for depth.

@timeless Are you by any chance taking Vitamin B12?
I had a client who had Bells Palsy. She was prescribed Vitamin B12. Her hair was salt and pepper, but her gray hair disappeared and was dark brown again over time.
She was in her late 70's with very little gray hair when she passed.
There has been some research on this vitamin....some say it reverses gray and hair and others say it doesn't.
I have seen it happen, so it is not impossible. Perhaps there are other supplements and vitamins that can do this also.

Several times over the past decades I've had gray come in and then within a few months the hair has reverted back to its natural color. I think that in most cases the appearance of gray has been related to stress. And the natural color returns when the stress dissipates. Seems like my hair follicles have grown more sensitive to stress as I've grown older. I don't color my hair.

No, but leave it alone. The prettiest hair I ever saw was snow white with dark hairs scattered through it!
Stunning!

@timeless Not sure what you mean by "reverse", but my hair was all silver and white and I stupidly decided to add lowlights in med. brown. The roots of grey were impossible to redo every 4 wks. I'm going through that process of back to silver now!!! My hairsresser is adding just a few baby darker pieces along my part. he called it grey blending so there's no line/mark between white part and brown lowlights.
Biggest mistake ever and I'll pay the price...time and money...to get back to my original silver hair.
Ladies, if you have mostly grey hair , ditch the dye and save a fortune!!!
@timeless If you see a lot of grey there's no going back except to color it, but you'll become a slave to appts. or box dye. That's what I gave up about 7 or 8 yrs. ago.

My hair went from blonde to snow white! Never grey!

@timeless - I had to chuckle at your post about Poltergeist. I remember that scene quite well with JoBeth Willaims.
How cool that your original color is coming back!

@Carmie Glad you posted this! I will quit taking it because I do not want my silver/white hair to go back! I'm very happy with it.

Grey blending is still color being put in your hair.
