Can someone give me a lesson on what retinol is, who should use it, what products have retinol, etc.?  Thanks!

I am going to take a stab at this. Retinol is distinctly different from treinoin, or retinoic acid. Retinol is more skin rejuvenation. Treinoin is prescription and scientifically proven to slow and prevent aging. If you want to do just that, don't waste time and money on anything other than Rx tretinoin. And use SPF every, single day.

Oh, I know you didn't ask about tretinoin. Just wanted you to be aware.

I've had a lot of experience with retinol.  It will also help rebuild your collagen and help with cell turnover and anti aging but to a lesser extent and much slower than a prescription retinoid like  tretinoin/ retin A.

That said,  if you start with a retinol and are very conscientious about using every single day,  you will get excellent results over time.  One that works extremely well is Neutrogena "Night" Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle cream in the old school blue and white metal tube. My derm swears it's   the gold standard for retinols and   I agree.  I've been using since it first came on market along  with sunscreen daily and at 53 my skin is excellent.

BtW, Most of the other Neutrogena retinol  products cost more than the original and don't work any better.
