Is THE worst thing to remove. No matter what shade -- be it navy or other shades of blue or blue/green -- it stays in my cuticles. Agh! Anyone have a suggestion as to what might be used (other than polish remover)?

I know this is going to get a lot of flack. However, if it was me and you said no more nail polish remover, I'd use something like lemon juice first. If that didn't work I'd use Tilex or something that had a diluted amount of bleach in it.
Dip your fingers in it (diluted). Then get some good moisturizers (some for nails if you can) and rub it into your cuiticles and nails really good. I'd do it over and over several times so that your nails don't get dry and brittle.
Just an idea. Try the least thing first though.

Is the polish caught under your cuticle? I never noticed my blue or teal polishes being harder to remove. I rarely paint my nails though. Hmmm. When I have had my cuticles stain, I have had good luck with rubbing it with a q-tip soaked in polish remover.

If that is your mindset, why don't you suggest that this woman wash her bathroom tiles with Soft Scrub with Bleach, a sponge and no gloves. Wash the tub, shower and the toilet. If you have a second bathroom, do that also. You can then come to my house where there are 2 bathrooms with white tile and grout. Don't worry. I have cuticle cream and hand creams.
Problem solved.
PS I just removed red nail polish and there was red around the cuticles. After a shower and by the next morning, all was gone. Maybe blue or black will last a bit longer. Dipping your hand in a bleach product will destroy your nails. They will become weak, crack and chip let alone what it will do with your hands.

you too?
I spent an hour Wednesday night in the bathroom trying to remove the blue...mine was a blue/green and I just looked even after the primer, I still have a halo of blue showing. I guess I'll just have to wait until it wears off and I'm using a rose/red from Clinique today so I won't see this halo effect anymore.
I don't think there is a solution, it's a color that just stays.

I find Zoya nail polish remover removes dark colors without a problem. Do you use a base coat? A base coat also makes it easier to remove any polish quickly and easily.

It's awful. I don't have this problem with reds or any other dark colors. I thought maybe it had something to do with the fact that I have very, very dry nails and cuticles in the winter. Maybe that's the reason the color gets absorbed more. I know one thing, I won't be soaking my hands in anything with bleach. Ow!

Using a good base coat helps, making sure to apply it everywhere the polish will go.
I found dark polishes easier to remove and they didn't stain my nails, if I applied a good dose of base coat.

Hi! I know what you mean. I find that 100% pure acetone works best. Not just "acetone" nail polish removers but those that specifically say 100% acetone. Every store carries their own brand, Walgreens, Sally, Target, etc.
It also helps to only swipe the saturated cotton pad in one direction, up, and not side to side or up and down. Hold the pad with the 100% acetone on your nail, count to 5 and swipe up while applying a tiny bit of pressure. Use a different section of the pad, place on nail, swipe up. And so on. Not perfect but really helps.
Buy some generic denture cleaning fizz tablets. If you are very stained, put one in a shallow bowl and put your finger tips in in for a few minutes. You can buy a product called Bubble White at Sally's but the generic denture fizz tablets are much cheaper and easier to find.

Julep makes a product called Vanish that works really well on this problem. Also, always wear a base coat. It prevents the color from seeping directly into the nail bed. Some also use a quality white-colored polish on top of their base coat before applying a darker color. It provides another layer of protection between the blue and your nail. Unfortunately blues and greens are especially prone to staining your nails. Hope this helps.
