Watching Beauty Report on HSN, and they have a small kit from MOB cosmetics. Lppie, blush, & mascara. They're all refillable which saves on plastic, but she said to re-use the brush for the mascara. If we're supposed to be discarding our mascaras every 60 to 90 days (something I don't do since I only wear it once a week), due to bacteria, wouldn't re-using the brush cause the same problem?
I will say the lashes looked really nice, no spider lashes.

@Icegoddess I thought the same thing! You would be using the same bacteria laden brush and putting it into the new mascara. I just don't get it!

I'm with you girls. I thought it so odd to sell it that way. No thanks

@Icegoddess The packaging on my latest purchase of Covergirl LashBlast mascara says discard every 6 months if you only use 2-3 times a week. That's my normal usage now that I'm only working 1-2 days a week.

If the brush is reusable then wash it before placing it into a new tube of mascara...problem solved.

When I wore mascara I did wash the wand occasionally just to get rid of the clump-mess build-up. That probably got rid of some of the contamination (bacteria) as well. I don't think most people think about washing their mascara wands so it gets tossed in 3 months time as it should be.

I've never heard of washing mascara wands before. I don't understand why if it's being disposed every 3 months or so.

totally agree.... Replacing mascara every 3 months is too soon in my opinion and I don't follow that advice. However, I think using the same brush from an old bottle to a new refill defeats the point.
I never wash mascara brushes. That seems like it would be super messy and may contaiminate the mascara more. If the brush is dirty, then the mascara is too. So I'd just pitch it. Although, I have wiped the wand with a tissue. That's probably pretty unsanitary, too. LOL.
