Recommendations for a root cover up powder

I've used different root cover up sprays and they all leave my hair feeling sticky, stiff, unable to run my fingers through my hair, and stain my forehead and pillow cases. So I thought I would try a root cover up powder instead. Years ago I bought the Joan Rivers one but it didn't give me much coverage. Is there another powder that gives good coverage without the negative effects?

For root cverage, I dont use a powder, I use Roux Tween Time stick, wet it and apply. One stick can last many years.

I got this suggestion here a couple of years ago to try ColorWow.  It's a solid powder. It's excellent.

I have been using Joan Rivers cover up for years because I have lost a lot of hair due to stress & meds.  It works very well.  My hairdresser cannot believe how well it covers where I've lost hair & my roots also.  Perhaps you are not applying right.  It takes time but it works & is not messy!  Wearing a topper doesn't work & looks horrible.

Honestly, I can't tell any difference between the Clairol root touch up powder and Color Wow or Madison Reed.   And Clairol is only $10!

I have Color Wow root touch up powder, I also have Calista's hair powder (got it here as a duo) and like it better than the Color Wow.

Re: Recommendations for a root cover up powder

Have only used Joan Rivers and it works well for me so no need to try other brands.

@Jordan2

Is your root touch up a solid powder? Since you have both and like the Calista better, can you tell me why please? I'm perfectly happy with Color Wow but always willing to consider something else if it's even better. Thanks

Re: Recommendations for a root cover up powder

I have used XFusion by Toppix.  More recently I have been using Tru Hair Color and Lift from HSN.  It is loose powder but application is more controllable than with XFusion.  It also gives hair extra body.  Does affect hair shine somewhat.
