Reattaching Compact Mirror, help [please!

[ Edited ]

Has anyone successfully glued a compact mirror back in? Not naming names (husband!) knocked my make-up drawer out of the cabinet and everything fell out. Apparently my beloved Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes use lousy mirror glue, because every single one came loose! None of the other brands of blush I had in there did. Also, the hinge broke off a highlighter but I don't think that's repairable. So, please let me know what you used that worked on the mirror (and what didn't). Thanks!

SUPER GLUE at the drug store.

I have a 2 1/2 inch compact from Q years ago.  Six months ago the glue dried out and mirror went flying across the kitchen floor.  Didn't break

I used super glue ..........but didn't take time to remove all of the old glue before applying new.  It's still 'holding' but rather sloppy job.

I suggest you clean old glue off with sandpaper - get as clean as possible - then put drops of super glue all around the back of the mirror and a substantial amount in the center (of the back of the mirror).  Press and hold until glue really makes contact with the frame.

Don't use mirror for  24 hours - it should be very secure by then.

Hope it works for you

ITA. Gorilla glue is fantastic. And it comes in an easy dispenser bottle that makes it easy to apply dots or streaks to a surface carefully and manage the entire project neatly. I'm sure it's in hardware stores, but I bought mine in Staples right near the Elmer's school glue and other adhesives.

if glue intimidates you or it's too expensive, buy a roll of double sided tape. It looks just like regular scotch tape, but both sides are quite sticky. Lay in a whole bunch of that tape neatly on the inside surface of the compact and then press the mirror onto it. It should be usable then.

Good luck.

@Desi   I have successfully used the strips that come with Command Hooks.  If you have any around try one or two depending on the size needed.

You guy are great! I Googled super glues and crazy glue. I do have an off brand crazy glue. I haven't tried anything other than tape, and that didn't work. Command strips I don't have. I wanted specifics because I will probably buy whatever seems best.

Regarding Gorilla Glue, can I ask which one? the one that looks like a mustard dispenser and foams a little or the ones that resemble crazy glue? I was hoping for something that doesn't have fumes that burn my eyes or big cancer warnings. Huge ask, I know. Going to keep checking and see what gets the most positive outcomes. Thanks again all!

@Desi   Just last week I bought a package of Clear Gorilla Glue Minis containing 4 small tubes at Big Lots for $7.00.  I like mini tubes because I feel like you waste glue in the big bottles.  Once open, the large ones seem to dry up or get clogged and I end up throwing them away.

Thanks, that makes sense, the bottles always seem to clog up! Wish we had Big Lot's close by. love that store, but we don't.
