I know! I'm so darn duo-sided! Most people say they don't give a rat's a** but I think bunny's butt is so much more....something. It's a habit, and it's stuck. I grew up not cursing, I still don't curse, perfectly fine with cursing, my husband does it with the best of them  Smiley Happy So I've take phrases over the years and turned them into non-curse phrases.

Oy yi yi...lulu....thats a lot of stuff!! Take a lookie around...thats the sign of the times...everything gets a bunch of hype, drama, these days. Your right, we are not stupid...however, many of us remain hopeful for a quality skincare regime that shows some improvement. Salespeople are just that..salespeople! We get it! Some ingredients Do help, and I'm thankful for the research. Some have the latest ingredients said to help, while they may not work for everyone. I think what your seeing is an over the top hype, and possibly false claims...but like anything, and everything in life...its up to us to do our homework.

@Lulu Bea, I disagree with this statement.  Some of us ARE idiots.  (Present company exempted of course.)  It is to gullible idiots that some marketers market.

@Lulu Bea  I know Brianna. Loved it when she started her videos and have watched since Day 1. Her family hits the same beach in Jersey that my family does. Have YOU watched her videos lately? If so, you'd know why she stopped using Retin A over a year ago.

She stopped selling it for those reasons; she won't sell anything via HER company if she can't use it herself.

There WAS no reason for the insults of many of those posters. If you it works for you, great. That said, I never used it due to what my PS told me years ago....and what he told me has happened to her and others. Seems like you have a bigger issue with her than just her video....

Exactly, the ability for the consumer to discern. I think you and I actually agree. Perhaps I misspoke or forgot a word that could change me context. Seems to happen a lot the older I get. But that's another story.  I am absolutely on the quest to find great, miracle products. I have a series about it!

Skin care is excellent today, huge advances, I think I mentioned that. The whole world is moving ahead including labs who produces new molecules to be used in skincare. Skin care is unbelievable.

This isn't about money spending, it's about educating or knowing why. How many times have we all seen in a FB group or in a beauty form something like...."I'm so excited, I just bought the,<insert name of serum lotion cream exofliator> that I saw so and so use/sell/demo/post about. How do I use it?" HOW DO YOU USE IT? You bought it and you don't know how to use it?

Bigtime skincare companies pay attention to what sells and what gets positive/ negative reviews. Although all of us want results from our purchases, what gets the biggest reaction from us is consistently:

  • The immediate texture and feel and experience of applying the product. We equate this experience with a quality formulation. For example, if a product pills on the skin or takes longer than a second to absorb, it gets absolutely bashed and trashed in reviews. But texture is the result of fillers and has nothing to do with actives that actually can affect the skin.

  • Individual negative sensitive reactions. When I broke out from a product, I posted about it. That encourages manufacturer caution and risk aversion, for better or worse.

  • Interest and fascination with scentific sounding ingredients, but infinite patience for sketchy to nonexistent actual real world applicable studies to back any of it up. So they spend as little as possible on verification research. Just the minimum, which is shockingly very very little, to not get in legal trouble for their claims.

  • Excitement over completely misleading ingredient decks. Due to ignorance of the 1% labeling rule, which companies exploit to ridiculous lengths. I've already posted about this so won't rehash it. But to me it's a huge scandal, as far as skincare is concerned.

So major skincare companies are just following the evidence of our own priorities when they spend much of their time and budget making formulations that look nice, feel great when applying, sound fancy, and do almost nothing.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

I am trying to write this post in such a way that it does not get reported because I know they are very diligent in keeping this board on the level, which is good for all of us and important. This post could go either way.

Skincare has been out of control for about a decade but it is now entering the world of fantasy. Fantasy is alluring. This generation of 50s, 60s, younger boomers, has been fabulous at keeping young at heart. We went to colleg in the 70s and we know what that means! Techology made break throughs, women had careers, women made serious money and really could be independent if they wanted. It was very freeing and have been able to live fully and having a wild time, in my opinion. Marriage is equal if the woman wants it to be. For years, we had no choice. We have a voice if we choose to use it. We are the generation that refuses to get old. I LOVE IT!!!!! i can sing every word to Jumping Jack Flash and Starirway to Heaven. Bet you can, too!! I still blast AC DC in the car. Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Aeoro Smith....ahhhh. AM I REFLECTIVE OF EVERYONE IN THIS GENERATION? NO. I GET THAT but on the other had, I also hope you get what I mean.

This brings up that we WOMEN are the target of every crazy skincare idea and product. Newsflash: We are not idiots. Most women who are my peers are well educated. We are not idiots but they keep coming up with these disappearing wrinkles, tightening, lightening brightening products that will work! because we buy it. I DO, TOO!  They are very effective at perception marketng. Highter price, better product, right? My good friend's master thesis was on 'effectivee use of perceived differences and delight factors in marketing campaigns." I spent many a late night with her researching and writing. She works for Estee Lauder now and I imagine she's going to bop me over the head when I record my video on this subject. Yes, I'm this ticked off that I'm going to add this to my skincare series. And the title will be REALLY????

What pushed me over the edge? Two things. MC1 Cream. wait for it, wait for it....hyaluronic acid mixed with your own plasma. SERIOUSLY??????

The other is a YT drama unfolding about a woman who owns a highly successful skincare store on the web and her personal story with Retin A.

I dont' give a bunny's butt about how anyone spends their money or how much a company charges for their product. It's America. It's a global economy. I only want everyone to do everything from buying a house,  a car seat, starting a keto diet to buying a 24 kt face mask for several hundred dollars, with the best education as possible.

Cheers, Lulu

" i second that emotion" conceding the necessity of coaching our words, not only to avoid censure, but to avoid the vultures'radar.  Some of us took advantage of newly opened doors.  We are well educated, accomplished.  We knew we'd made men our enemies by daring to stand eye, to compete in their arenas but we didn't anticipate the ferocity of the women we alienated in the process.  You can see it in the responses to your post. #truth.  You spoke it, they don't want to hear it.

let me add to your "outraged " list:

smearing bacteria all over your face - ignoring the fact that bacteria mutate to become pathogens resistant to the body's defenses and antibiotics.  C. difficile, MRSA, scalded skin syndrome to name a few

"harnessing" oxygen, now hydrogen to "infuse" youth into your skin

topical collagen

snail mucus...

While there may be many that don't actually do anything, it's hard to know as some products work for some but not for others.  It's a matter of finding what works best and not an absolute that either cheaper drugstore brands or more expensive brands are better.  I tried many drugstore products that caused problems for me as well as didn't work but for many , they claim they work for them.  I can't verify or dispute that nor do I care to.   I know what works for me and that is what I buy.  I'm at a place in my life where I do not have to scrimp so I try things and have found many products that have made a huge difference for my skin.  Also I am not an idiot so I choose to find products that while they do not work for some will work for me.  What may seem crazy to some really does work great for others.  There are so many new innovations in skincare which is good because it gives everyone a choice rather than having to buy the same old stuff from that everyone used from way back!

Something I've learned after all of these years posting on these boards.  You DON'T need to explain yourself.   Just post and move on.
