It's good to change your passwords frequently regardless, but the ebay communication was ridiculous. Target took alot for their issues and worked to fix them. I don't see ebay doing the same.

The ebay issue seems to be a lot different than the issue with Target. With Target, significant financial information was compromised starting with transactions at the register. However, according to Ebay the information that was accessed did not include any financial info. Of course, we could always hear something different later. One of the ebay announcements also stated they are working with law enforcement & are increasing security so I don't think there is any reason to think they aren't working to take care of their issues.

No I do not work for ebay but I have used them for years both as a seller (in the past) and as a buyer and have never had any issues. The company has too much at stake to just ignore a major issue like this.

Even though they said Paypal was not compromised, membes of that site should also change their password just to be safe. Do not use the same password for both sites.

Thank you for the Paypal tip. I was not going to change that password, but I think it would be prudent to do so.

Yeah i heard that there are lot of spammers these days on ebay. the better and adviseable way is to change your password once in a week other wise your credit card information might be snatched by them.

I changed my passwords and called the credit card co and changed my card numbers as well, why take a chance, next week it may say something different with ebay. Better safe than sorry. They said no financials were hacked but I wonder if that may change as they find out more.

I am an early riser so the day the email came to change the password It was easy however I remembered an older account where I attempted to sell things. By the time I tried that one the website was so busy I had to wait hours to get in. Finally.

Then I got another email yesterday to change my email but then when I checked it out they said I did it already.

As long as Paypal is safe I feel better.

I think I changed my password on Sunday night after being offline for three days during which I'd heard about the hacking (why was ebay so slow with its warning?).

Anyway, the change apparently went through BUT after I'd made the change every time I've tried to sign in, I got the change message again and couldn't browse or buy if I wanted to.

Not trusting ebay much at all right now.

I got my email today, too. I changed mine last week. Haven't used ebay in more than 2 or 3 years, though.

I did change my Ebay password but I'm getting sick to death of this. NBC news has told me three times in the past several weeks to change my password. Security people better step up their game. if they can hack these sites once, they can hack them again.

A real mess. I might just go back to smoke signals. We have done ourselves in providing all this fun and games for the bad people.
