Am I the only one who thinks the numbers are a little bit odd when it comes to shades? It begins with double zero, then zero, then jumps to 11? Then the next shade is 11.5. Why not 1,2,3, etc? Make the even numbers warm and the odd cool toned. Okay just my little rant for the day.But if anyone knows please share.

No.  I haven't even given it much thought as to why, but there is some trial and error.  However, I think that happens a lot in the foundation category.  It seems to me that all makeup brands have their own numbering system and there's no exact consistency from brand to brand.  And the more vast the shade range, the more numbers they have for just an eek bit of difference one way or another.  Have you seen EstĂ©e Lauder's shade chart?  They have a lot of shades.  Fortunately, some websites have the shade matcher where you can plug in one (or a few) that you wear and they'll give their equivalent.  But even that isn't perfect 100% of the time and there's still some trial and error, not to mention your own home lighting that can trick your eye..

They need to fix their shades and expand the shade range. They should be labeled light neutral. Or light warm. I would never buy the ReEvolve foundation without getting samples first from detox market. The skin tint is pretty flexible and I can use two shades. But the foundation is too full coverage. I really wouldn't know what shade to buy without samples first. They need to double their shade range too.

I'd love to see all foundations offer a sample card with fair, light, medium or dark. It would be so much easier if we had a "spot" of foundation to test on our faces before ordering.

I don't know how to choose the "right" shade for me--been told I am a light, warm-----just by someone looking at me. My DD and I were at Ulta and she didn't know her shade either--gal from philosphy counter matched her neck to foundation color and it was perfect!!! Looked so good. But how can you do that with a shade card or from TV!!?? I need to be there in person, I think and then... are all shades from the different brands , the same?? Very confusing---I must have 4 or 5 powder compacts and a few a loose powder foundations that say light--and all are very different color-- slightly, maybe, and can see yellow to them?? Am I happy  with any of them--not really--altho must say that summer or regular bisque is the best of the bunch. I mostly wear liquid bb/cc creams mixed with a primer---and then brush on mineral veil or a transparent setting powder--my fave is MAC prep and prime.

Re: RMS numbers?

[ Edited ]

I am usually very easy to pick a shade on line being light neutral. I never have an issue for me. But rms is just weird with that. I think I would be 11.5 but every time I see the shade it looks orange. I enddd up ordering samples of the skin tint from detox market. The ivory worked once I got makeup on but was slightly too light. The cameo was a much better match and will be the shade I order when I am out of my doll ten. As much as I love rms they have glad with their packaging s lot. Doesn't stop me from buying it but they need to do better.

I think I’m being misunderstood. Her numbers jump but not by a few. Like 0 then a number 11. Does that mean she is working on colors to work for the in between?

Re: RMS numbers?

@Allthingsgirly67   Rose Marie has always said that the numbers with .5 are more peachy in color.  22 and 22.5 would be the same shade level except for the peachier tone in .5.  The same with all the colors across the board.  I have a wide range of her concealers and I find this to be true.

Edited to add.  I just saw your last comment.  My guess is,  like you mentioned,   that there will be room to expand the shade range if necessary.   Just a guess.
