Questions regarding MAC eye shadow

Based on reviews I have read here I decided to check our MAC eyeshadows. People speak very highly of them and they are certainly budget friendly. Went to Nordies asked what colors they would recommend for me. They must be running some kind of promotion because the girls had fishnet stockings and black lace gloves. One girl had a big wig on with a large feather. I'm beginning to think at 57 perhaps this line is for younger women? Anyway - I have a medium complexion and am still fighting breakouts. My hair is medium blonde with highlights and I have brown eyes. I have been using BB taupe colored shadow and it's good but wondered if something else would look better.

The girl recommended Shale (mauve color w/shimmer) and All That Glitters for a highligher. I asked about a liner and she recommended Bordeauxline (plum color) and told me I should use Painterly Paint Pot all over the eye as a primer.

/></p> <p>The suggestions surprised me, I thought I was more of an 'earthtone' - but I figured that they know more than I do and I have been curious to see what a 'professional' would say. I know I should get a consultation done. I tried Lancome and I do like them and I tried a sample of Chanel foundation and was not wowed. Hard to find what's right. Always looking to see if something is better.</p> <p>I did purchase everything that she suggested. Just looking for more input. Don't know if I want to open any of this.
