I've got this massive hormonal acne going on. My doc changed my hormones in August and hit December I've got blackheads, whitehead, and cystic acne. We did bloodwork and have adjusted the hormones, but in the meantime, I'm trying to find some makeup that will cover it up. I've been using a BB cream by Holika Holika. It looks great in the morning, but wears off and is clinging to the spots where they are drying out. I've thought about Laura Geller but they say powder sticks to the dry spots, but I have days where I've got more oil than Saudi Arabia on my face. Any help there as I consider her powder full coverage foundation. Any recommendations for others I'm open. I know IT Cosmetics is also known for coverage.

I recently posted about my experience using a natural alternative for a prescription medication for acne on another thread. I used to be on spironolactone but can't currently use it.
Check out DHT Block from Delgado Protocol. They sell it on Amazon. It blocks DHT, a derivative of testosterone that leads to oilier skin and in turn acne. It's made of organic, natural food grade ingredients. I don't think this would pose an issue with your medication since it doesn't block testosterone or estrogen, just the byproduct DHT. However, check with your doctor.
It works for me like I'm on my usual prescription. My skin is completely clear. This will get rid of the excessive oil production, clogged pores and in turn the acne. I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck.

I like it because it can be applied light or heavy. My skin will get oiler as the day wears on, but the foundation will still "wear" well on my face. Now, I'm no spring chicken either. 60 years old, medium oily (and now sometimes sensitive) skin tone, still battling acne after all these years, large pores, no hormone therapy. A liquid foundation has never worked for me because it pools in my pores. I've tried every powder foundation and find LG works best for me.

@Tigriss I have acne issues, too. I find that Laura Geller's Powder Foundation (Balance and Brighten) alone is not nearly enough coverage for my issuses. I do use Balance and Brighten, but I use it on top my liquid foundation or BB Cream. I have Garnier's SkinActive BB Cream and I have Cover Girl's Ready Set Gorgeous Foudation, and they both work well for me.
IT Costmetics does not work for me, because for some reason, they make my acne problems worse.

Hi Tigriss. I still get breakouts too and I am in your age bracket. Here is what I love, and no, I am not affiliated, just love it. You can cover it with B&B as an overall finish when you are done using it. booboocoverup.com/ (usual before letters). If you get it, let me know what you think, it's pretty awesome.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. I've had my hormones custome compounded based on my bloodwork, which recently had my estrogen at 300 instead of the normal 50-100, so we have changed from that, but I've only been on it since the end of January when I was put on spironolactone and minocycline for the acne, but the spironolactone was not enough of a water pill for me, and I couldn't take it and my water pill. I'm still on the minocycline. I'll check with my doctor about it working with my compounded hormones. In the fall of 2016 I had surgery to remove a large cyst from my ovary and then my skin and hair became dryer, which I was digging until August 2017 when my hormones were adjusted a few months later the oil had increased so much. Hormones are so powerful. I was looking into makeup for dryer skin, HAHA! It fooled me. I'm now battling it clinging to the dry patches around the acne, but my forehead is clear and super smooth. I'll check out DHT Block as I have taken Estro Block in the past for something else. I know it will take time, but now my eczema is beginning to flare. YUCK! Now I'm treating those spots and the acne spots. Hopefully, it is just a purge on the way to healing. Thanks for the advice.

@TigrissGreat, so you're familiar. I was also on EstroBlock before but it gives me horrible headaches and it doesn't work as well for acne or oil for me. The DHT Block works extremely fast. I began taking it 12 days before a recent trip and by then it had already kicked in. No headaches and no side effects for me.
My suggestion would be to get on the DHT block before you need to stop minocycline. Check with your doctor but from my research it should be ok. As you probably know, you can't be on antibiotics for more than 3 months or so. Then the acne slowly but surely comes right back. I'm so glad I could help since it was such a godsend for me to find this supplement.
I would say it works just as well as spironolactone and you don't have to get liver tests since it's all natural. DHT Block is also used for male and female hereditary pattern baldness since DHT is the byproduct that leads to hair loss. My eyelashes have gotten so long while on DHT Block, which is such an unexpected surprise.

Thanks for the feedback. I've ordered the DHT block. I have used the Estro block from them before, but my PCOS wasn't fazed. I'm glad that it works as well as the Spiro because I can't take it with my other water pill that actually works to remove the excess water I'm collecting. I could take Spiro and go to bed, so at 50mg twice a day, it did nothing for water retention. It shouldn't affect my compounded hormone. My GP called with my bloodwork results to say that it was all perfect, so his idea of my insulin resistance/pre-diabetic diagnosis was incorrect. Just because I'm overweight doesn't mean I'm lying to him about my sugar or food intake. He has been taught a valuable lesson about me, so hopefully, he will take my word for things from now on. I hope to start it Tuesday when they come in.
Do you know if it is better to take it at night or the morning or middle of the day?
