I could use some help! After I shower I like to use body butter or lotion, but I also want to use sunscreen now that it is summer (I know I should use it year round). My question is do I put the body lotion on first or sunscreen? Also if I want to use sunscreen on my face, primer, and foundation (my foundation has sunscreen but I feel it's not nearly enough protection), do I use the sunscreen first and then the primer? Lastly can you use the sunscreen you use on your body on your face too, or do you think you should get a sunscreen that is mad specifically for your face? Thanks!

My dermatoligist recommended using Eucerin cream with sunscreen in it - so there you go both in one.

Sunscreen is the last thing you put on. For your face it goes on after skincare and before makeup. I prefer a sunscreen made specifically for the face because some body sunscreens might irritate your eyes.

Sunscreen after anti aging, but before moisturizing. Love and swear by Netrougenta DRY TOUCH!
Light! No Goop! NO ICK!!!!

@Jordan2 my derm says sunscreen is your last step of skincare. I let it dry down, then do my makeup. If I use a primer, I think it maybe seals the sunscreen some. I'm using Josie Maran sunscreen that I think is for the body & face. For my body though it's good ol Coppertone because I love the smell! 😁
I agree that spf in a foundation isn't nearly enough.

I apply a moisturizer that contains sunscreen first. Then I apply the primer, foundation & blush/highlighter. Anything liquid I let dry down before going to the next step.
I do use sunscreen on exposed areas of my body if I intend to be outside for extended periods of time.

I have used both of the Nurtogena formulas for years

Body lotion and let it dry then apply sunscreen but know if you go outside you will need to reapply your sunscreen..........sweat, etc..............for face it goes on right before your foundation.

There's actually some derms that now say sunscreen should go on bare skin not on top of other products, you know, because we need more confusion on the topic :\
You're right about the foundation with sunscreen though. As someone else pointed out, you actually need a decent amount of sunscreen for it to work and most of us likely don't put that much foundation on our faces.
Also, even if you're wearing multiple layers of sunscreen, you're not getting the SPF of all the sunscreens together and it's good to re-apply your sunscreen throughout the day for it to be truly effective.
Honestly, it kind of all makes me want to go out and buy a really big hat, sit under a big beach umbrella, and drink a mojito ![]()
