I've been using this nightly now for 4 weeks.  Last night and tonight after using it, I noticed a real flush to my cheeks - not painful, nothing bad, just a bright pink, slightly warm flush.  I've had no other reaction to the retinol nor have I changed anything in my routine.  It goes away after a while.  Skin is fine, no sensitivity, no peleing, etc.  After putting on the retinol, I do wait about 15 minutes before continuing with my usual skin care but I've been doing that since I started using it so thats nothing new.

Anyone else have this happen?  Wondering if my face is trying to tell me it doesn't like it anymore.

A light pink flush ... sounds pretty.  If it's not painful or causing a breakout I wouldn't worry.  I use it and have not noticed that happening.  Wish it would give me a pink flush.  LOL.

@JudyL  I bought the PTR Retinol mainly for my arms but I have been using it on my face a few nights a week alternating with my Tretinoin. I realize the goal is to use Tretinoin every night but when I do I still end up with tenderness and sensitivity.  This seems to be a good system for me so far.  It seems odd to me that you've been using it without issue until now,  I would expect a reaction much sooner if it was going to be a problem.  Maybe you could back off to every other night for awhile and see what happens.  Then build back up to nightly if you are able to.

Re: Question re PTR Retinol

[ Edited ]

@JudyL I think your skin may be telling you something. If the pink gets worse or deeper in color I would discontinue use of the Retinol.

Edited to add: I have very sensitive skin. I often use a product for three or four weeks and then develop a sensitivity to it. I stopped experimenting, found a simple routine with minimum products, and I do not change.

@JudyL

I get a slight pink flush, too, but I always have.  Sometimes my glass of Pinot Noir during my nightly skin routine makes it a little more pink.  I experience no stinging or pain or anything like that.

No reaction at all to it.  I use it nightly except one night a week when I use the Tretinoin gel.  I've tried a couple of times going to 2X/wk with the Tretinoin, but I end up getting a little peeling when I do that.  I'll try again in the fall when I'm not outside so much working in the yard.  I do use sunscreen then, but thought it still would be better to wait since I don't wear sunscreen except when I'm going to be outside.

@SurferWife - oh my wine does that to me too.  I don't usually drink alcohol but when I do have wine, I turn so red.  LOL

I use this about 5 nights a week---have never had any reaction and its going on 2 -3 years. I like the suggestion to use it every other night for a while---

If you are applying that PTR retinol right after cleansing then wait until your skin is completely dry...usually in about 15 to 30 min depending on where you are. The reason is moist skin allows for products to absorb deeper and sometimes that can lead to unnecessary irritation or redness.
