In regards to Seche Vite top coat and base coat--can these be thinned with polish thinner or best to toss and buy new bottles? Thank you.

Seche Vite has their own thinner that they recommend to use for thinning.

My girl use to use Seche Vite but said it just wasn't the same when she used their thinner. She ended up switching to Out the Door because she was wasting close to half of every bottle.

I have never been a SV fan. I much prefer Poshe, Sally Hansen Mega Shine Extended Wear or Duri Brush and Go

I thin and refill my bottle and I've never had a problem with it going bad since I started using thinner. You can use the Seche thinner (Restore) or you can use any generic thinner. Beauty Secrets thinner is available at Sally Beauty and it works in Seche Vite or in any nail polish color. You can also use Restore in any nail polish color, but if it is a Big 3 Free polish (free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP) it won't be after you use the Restore - it will have toluene.

I have big bottles of Restore and Seche Vite I got from a local beauty supply store (not Sally) and I use that to restore and refill my .5 oz SV bottle. I've also used Restore on my polish colors. I also have a bottle of Beauty Secrets thinner and have used that on both my Seche Vite and my colors.

Base/top coats and treatments always need more thinning because they're most often open and exposed to air and evaporation, so I thin those pretty regularly.

I use the Beauty Secrets brand from Sally's, also works great if you have some polish that gets on the skin, just rub a drop on it, and it disappears.

The girl who has doing my nails for 10+ years. I am not the only poster who uses the term.

I've used nothing else since discovering Seche Vite, and I always thin it with Seche Vite Restore, and am able to use it right down to the bottom of the bottle.

Just an interesting note, I saw a nail blogger demonstrate "restoring" a bottle of completely dried-up-solid bottle of silver nail polish using Restore. She even showed the result by using it on her nails -- just like new! I was impressed!
