I am totally with you Colonel. It does get confusing. Fortunately for me, most of the multiple posts are not things I am terribly interested in. Not that they are bad topics -- Lisa leaving, Joan's passing, LOGO etc -- it's just that I don't come to these boards for those discussions.

I agree that it dilutes the conversation. Maybe that's a good thing sometimes!

I have seen this and like you, cannot follow what's going on. I have to say I have suggested to a few who have asked (either with the "OT" or not) about medical thing for instance on a beauty section to move the question to the health and fitness area.

That's exactly what I thought you meant, and I've noticed that too.

It seems there should be some way to keep that from happening. Some of them very definitely look like spam, and others are just annoying. There's no reason why the same topic started by the same poster should be allowed to appear over & over.

I think when most of us start a topic we choose where to post it. Flooding the forums with a specific question or concern is not anything I would ever consider. I think it's attention-seeking and pretty inconsiderate.

I don't consider the threads I'm referring to as spamming. I think the OP simply wants to garner as much exposure as possible (which I completely understand). It just gets confusing, is all I'm saying!

Yes, I understand. I think intent comes into play here. If a person is sincerely trying to get as much exposure (answers to a question or information), that might make for confusion but not qualify as spam. But if a person is just trying to annoy the rest of us or advertise or something like that, then that would qualify more as spam.

Very confusing and when you look to see your response, you can't find it and assume it got poofed only to find its on another forum because the OP started the topic multiple times. If that makes any sense..lol very confusing!

It makes perfect sense, and is exactly what I'm talking about. I just give up following those threads because I'm never quite sure which one I've responded to. There is no continuity within the threads - which is a shame because, otherwise, they may have provided good discussion.
