Question - Temporary Hair Color

I haven't colored my hair in many MANY years. Usually, I love my crystal white hair that frames my face and has since I'm 29. Lately though, I've been wanting a pick-me-up and coloring my hair has been creeping in to my mind.

If I use temporary color, does it really wash completely out in so many washes, or does it have some permanence that would tinge my white hair meaning I would have to grow it out for it to look right again if I don't want to keep coloring it?
