I recently returned an IT cosmetics eyeshadow trio & brush. The price was $29.00 with $2.59 tax. Shouldn't I be refunded the tax amount? I received an email stating that my credit card was refunded $29.11. I emailed customer service so hopefully they will take care of this, but just a heads up to always check the amount that is being refunded to you on a returned item.

Did you use their return label? If so, they will deduct the return label cost. I'm sure they'll figure it out and correct if need be.

I am in agreement with this.

Check your invoice to see the total amount originally charged to you (it will be on the bottom line and incl both tax and s&h.) If you did use a return label then deduct $6.95 from the total amount you originally paid and see if that comes out to $29.11.

If you did not use the return label then you should be refunded the entire original amount as long as it was returned within 30 days. If it was over 30 days then QVC will not refund the original s&h anymore.

They will correct it if they did make an error which is always possible. To come to a credit of $29.11, it does sound like you probably used their return label. They only deal in total amounts of original billing amount minus the label cost which on an item that small is $6.95. They don't then go back and re-credit tax separately ........... it is calculated on total amounts, if that makes sense.

Sorry, I should have stated in my original post that I did NOT use their return label. I knew I could ship back a little eyeshadow and brush for less than $6.95 (it only cost $2.50 or so to ship). So I have always been under the impression that they do not refund original shipping OR return shipping unless a product is defective. I simply did not like this eyeshadow. And I know for sure tax should be refunded because if you return an item to a store the tax is always refunded.

How much was the original shipping? Like wackers said, if you return it past 30 days they do not refund the original shipping. That may be what the difference is in your refund.

They do return original shipping costs and tax. Original shipping costs are not refunded if you return after 30 days. (I know as I did that recently.)

The amount refunded to you doesn't make much sense. If you did return within the 30 day time period (30 days from when you received it, not from when they shipped it) then you should get a credit back of the full amount you were originally charged (cost of the item plus tax plus s&h.)

If it was outside of that 30 day (from the time you received it) then they will not refund the original s&h and only credit back the purchase. That would be the item plus any tax.

Hope you can figure out how they arrived at that odd amount. The CS Reps are usually pretty good at figuring out where the error, if any, was made. Good luck!

I returned the product within 15 days of receipt, so I was well within the 30 day time period. I just received a response from QVC, they said they deducted $6.95 from my amount. I had to respond and let them know that I did NOT use the preprinted return label and I have my receipt from the post office stating my postage I paid to return the item. Geez, I think the return department needs some help!!

I never use their return label. When I return something I make sure every upc code is removed from the paperwork in the package so there's nothing they can even attempt to scan! The return area has always been a problem- for example, I rarely receive exchanges requested on the return form. Why have the option there if it's not going to be reviewed?
