Products in Pretty Packaging!

Sooo I am a little disgusted. Received the skin care product I ordered today, and the packaging is all gold and pretty yes. But there truly is not alot of actual product for the money!! I feel we pay for all this fancy packaging and fancy bottles!! I would prefer more plain and get better deals and more product for our money. Just my opinion. Does anyone agree!?

I worked for a cosmetic company at one time, and I can tell you that you do in fact pay for all the fancy packaging and lots of other things.....like those salespeople behind the counter, marketing, and sure, some research.

If the cosmetic company has a drug store brand, try that. Many times the formula is almost if not identical and the packaging isn't so pretty, but hey...who sees your bathroom besides you?

My friend bought an old fancy perfume bottle at a garage sale for $3.00. After checking out the bottle, she sold it for $900.00.

Perfume packaging & makeup packaging are two different things. I prefer plain for makeup as I toss when empty. I have 3 very old perfume bottles with the spritzer squeeze ball on top. I refill them.

I completely agree. SMH every time a QVC host makes a big deal about the package in which your buy arrives. Believe me, you pay for that. I'd rather pay less. I'm able to make a pretty package, if necessary, without QVC's help.

That's what I like about Suzanne Somer's packaging. It's not in a fancy box. It's in a zip lock bag. She says she does it to keep cost down because all that fancy packaging/boxes cost a ton of extra money for the customer.

Re: Products in Pretty Packaging!

There's nothing pretty about some of the things I use as far as packaging: my 1 oz. white bottles from Garden, my 8 oz. of aloe... But I know these are effective, so to me, that's all that matters.

In color cosmetics packaging I just want something that is easy to open!

Except in a few cases, like for a vitamin C or retinol, packaging is the last thing that would draw me to a product! But I know it matters in marketing a product. It's all in perception.

Thank you for your replies. I for one would rather have good deals on products and more product in the bottles and jars than pay for fancy packaging. I wrote to the vendor about this and will see what they say! Smiley Happy

Re: Products in Pretty Packaging!

I like to check the amount that comes in a product and do a cost per ounce analysis before I make a purchase. Often a product will sell at a price point that seems comparable to similar products until you check the amount and see you're getting half the product for that price.
