I have not used primer in many years under my foundation? Do you ladies feel it is worth adding to our makeup routine? If so I used to use Laura Geller's spackle. One of my girlfriends purchased the champagne glow thinking of buying it but I don't know if it's worth the $$ or another product added to my vanity.

@theresa Just my experience...I've used a few primers, including Spackle. I liked the way they felt going on, but never really thought they made much of a difference in how good my makeup looked or how long it lasted. I quit using them some time ago.
I still have somewhat oily skin at 70, don't know if that matters or not.

@vermint I felt the same way that's why I stopped. I moisturize my skin with Cereve used to buy expensive products but my dermatologist told me to keep it simple.

Whatever works for you and your skin is ok.
I quit wearing makeup the day I retired. It's been so freeing and comfortable to not have all that stuff on my face.
My makeup was done with the bride on my son's wedding day. The makeup artist used a cc cream on me and it was nice. I will wear makeup at my niece's wedding early August.
I've earned every wrinkle. I'm comfortable and that's all that matters to me.

@theresa I'm the same way...cleanse (with Cetaphil) and moisturize (Clinique), use a mild scrub once a week, and that's it! I just can't do a multi-layered routine, don't have the patience for it.
Oh, and I do spray my face/neck with WEN Replenishing Treatment Mist before applying moisturizer. If I ever run out of that, I may try going without.

@theresa This is just my opinion on primers.
I feel like if you find the right skin care for you skin &/or makeup routine you won't have any use for a "primer".
They aren't magic. They are just another step that may fill in something you didn't have working for you in your basic routine.
It could be have been filled by finding the correct moisturizer, but it happened to be found in a product that was labeled as a "primer".
I feel like people with dry skin have better luck with primers that oily skinned people.
Skin care to help with oily skin is hard.

According to experts and/or popular opinion, primer does two things; 1. It seals in the skincare and 2. It prepares the skin for a better makeup application.
Right now I use Spackle whenever I do my makeup. I have a supply built up from assorted sales but I am not 100% married to it. It's on a Prime Days deal right now but there are other primers out there that are less expensive and can do a good job. I used to use Missha BB Boomer years ago. It's an illuminating type similar to the LG Champagne but more of a pearlized pale pink. Be advised that it does have fragrance, in case you're sensitive. I thought it smelled nice but overall it's unnecessary. Another one is Thank Me Later by Elizabeth Mott for a less expensive option. It comes in a variety of options and has 4.5 star rating with over 42K reviews on Amazon.
Good luck deciding.

I don't use primer.
I don't like layering a lot of products and don't think it's necessary.
I would rather have money than the primer.

I HAVE BEEN USING DANESSA MYRICKS YUMMY SKIN BLURRING BALM POWDER PRIMER/FOUNDATION IN THE SHADE UNIVERSAL.
IT HAS AMAZING STAYING POWER TO CONTROL OIL AND SHINE IN THIS CRAZY HOT WEATHER.
PURCHASED A SHADE AS WELL THAT I USE OVER THE UNIVERSAL, AS IT HAS THE SAME RESULTS. HAVE NO SHINE ALL DAY.
