Why is finding the perfect face & eyelid primer so difficult?  I seem to trash more primers these days and it's driving me up the wall.  Any recommendations for dry skin primers (face & eyelid)?

@SurferWife - My skin is combo, and I'm a die-hard Laura Geller Spackle fan, but lately I've been loving rmsBeauty's primer. I NEVER go out without tinted moisurizer or foundation, but after putting that on one morning I looked in the mirror and thought I didn't need it! So lately I've been wearing this only during the week. It gives my skin a creamy glow.

As for eyelid primer, I buy the travel size of Anastasia. It lasts forever!  Smiley Happy

@SurferWife   OK, so I've never worn a face primer...never understood the need if foundation fits your skin type...not too dry or oily.

Eye primer for many years has been MAC Painterly. It not only neutralizes the lid, but holds on to shadow. It comes in other shades and can be worn alone, too. lately I've used any long lasting cream shadow sticks as a shadow base in a vanlla/light beige shade. I'm using less powder shadows and more shadow sticks in general, so a primer isn't needed.

I use primer daily--after I put the rest of my skincare on in the morning.It seems to seal in the moisture --am using Laura Geller diamond primer. Primer for the eyes baffles me too--just don't know how to use it or what color. I also have used Smashbox primer--I like that too. I have very dry skin and usually don't wear make up everyday. But still use the primer.

@wagirl   For an eye primer, give a neutral shade of shadow stick a try. Drugstore, highend...most are waterproof and can be used as is or as a primer for powder shadows.

I have been using Mally eye shadow sticks, no primer is needed, these last all day with no creasing.

@SurferWife  - My go to eyelid primer now is MAC Painterly in the pot.  Milani makes an eyeshadow primer that is good and I used it for a long time.  Once I tried MAC though, I stayed with it.  Face primer is a different story.  Some primers work well with some foundations and not others and thats annoying.  I have quite a few but can't say that any are absolute favorites. Laura Geller's Spackle never worked for me and RMS primer doesn't work all that well for me either.  Think my skin is more normal to dy but does get a tad oily around nose and chin so not all over dry.  I like the ELF Poreless Putty Primer and the ELF Power grip primers right now.  Have others that I can reach for but don't seem to as much as the ELF.

The one Spackle that I truly loved was discontinued. It was the tinted mattifying one, I would use this as my light foundation as well as a primer.

Good Morning @SurferWife

My two favorites for face are Jane Iredale Smooth Affair and Mally's Face Defender

As far as eyes, I use shadow sticks so don't feel the need for eye primer. I think using a shadowstick for primer is a great idea @Shanus

@Shanus

I've never though of using a shadow stick as a primer for powder eye shadows.  Thanks for that tip!  I have an IT Cosmetics shadow stick that I don't use mainly because there's not much color to it.  That may be the perfect primer!
