I spray One/Size Powder Melt setting spray over all powder foundations. It gives such a beautiful finish. Currently I use Jane Iredale powder foundation with a little bit of MAC Studio Fix on any small spots or problem areas.

@MommyAngie   Thank you! Where do you the the powder melt setting spray? What brand is it?

@SandGirl Foundations of all forms, powder, liquid etc., is more often than not OVER applied.  You say you only need light coverage so you're good.

Be cognizant of how much powder you are applying, reminding yourself that very little should be used and you need to allow a little time before going in and applying more. You'd be surprised at the sufficient amount of coverage you get with little product, truly.

@SandGirl. The brand is One/Size. It’s sold on their own site and at Sephora. Right now it’s sold out on One/Size, but, available on the Sephora app…..probably website and at stores too. I spray at least 5-6 sprays about 6 inches away with my eyes closed. Huge difference for me.

I just finish with the MAC standby, Fix It Prep and Prime, works beautifully.

I'm 71 living in a very dry climate and have no problems with Bare Minerals original formula. I don't use primer

@granddi   thank you.  What have you found that works that doesn't make lines look worse?  I have the It Cosmetics foundation everyone loves but I don't love it at all...

I  very thinly use lancome Teint Idole Ulta Wear.

Re: Powder foundation that won't settle into lines?

@SandGirl,

Perhaps if you change your skin care routine you could wear your powder Foundation. My complexion turned desert dry in my mid-50s. What I once used on it and wore on it, had to give way to more hydrating and moisturizing products. I have two powder foundations., one from Natasha Denona and one from Fenty Beauty. I don't wear them often and in fact you usually just use them to powder my chin since that seems to be the first thing to go during the day. In my opinion Natasha's formula is slightly more hydrating but that still doesn't make it good for dry skin. You'll need plenty hydration and a hydrating / glowy setting spray. If you are only moisturizing your dry skin and not hydrating it, you should really look into essences. I will apply three to four at a time because they all have different properties and I have really dry/dehydrated skin!

@SandGirl

Are any of those products hydrating? Hydration and moisture are not necessarily the same. And I forgot about primers. Some primers are more hydrating than others. Some are for pores and some Target other issues. The primer I use is by hourglass. It is not for pores, it is to create a perfect canvas to accept your foundation. Charlotte Tilbury makes a setting spray that will add a bit of glow.

Re: Powder foundation that won't settle into lines?

My powder foundations came with sponges for application but that was too heavy. I use a brush, and not a dense one, for powder foundation application.
