I had a tummy tuck 7 weeks ago and I'm 70. I had a medical reason, but insurance will not pay because they think it's cosmetic. I've had recti diastasis for over 2 years in which your abdominal muscles separate and you have a bulge. I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. As time went on, it got bigger and when I stood sideways I look 8 or 9 mos. pregnant. None of my blouses would fit. It bothered me so much emotionally. I had to lose weight in the abdominal area before my surgeon would do it. I lost 10 lbs. in a year and a pants size. My surgeon is with the University of Nevada, School of Medicine and is an Assistant Professor, Division of Plastic Surgery. He does a lot of reconstruction surgery. Total cost $7700, $5200 for the surgeon, $900 for the anesthesiologist and $1600 for the surgery center. I had very little pain with the hip to hip incision because they do not cut the muscle. I just hated the compression binder and 2 drainage tubes. I got an infection from the tubes and was put on antibiotics. I now have to wear a spanx type garment until the swelling goes down. I had to sleep upright for many weeks and walk bent over. Because the surgeon got my muscles so tight I can't eat a lot at one sitting. I will not put back on the 10 lbs I lost. I would do it all over in a heartbeat. I can finally wear clothes that I could button up.

Have you ever watched the show "Botched" ? Unless you want to end up like some of those people who did the cheap way with surgeons that were not reputable do not go the "Cheap" route. You get what you pay for. Try saving up or see if you can do a payment plan. I had lasik surgery 15 years ago which is not covered by insurance but I went to a very reputable surgery center and they had a payment plan option. It was not cheap but I paid it off in installments over 5 years and it was well worth it to not have complications.

Did anyone here ever have a TUMMY TUCK and gain weight later?
Did the weight go to another part of your body?
Do you live near a teaching hospital ?? I do .. and for students that have
already had surgical training but want to specialize in cosmetic surgery

Yep. I know. I've seen the pictures. Amazing!! But again, going overseas for cosmetic work is something I can't do (I'm semi-retired - no "overtime" pay to save .. boo hoo ..)
@The closest I can get to South Korean beauty is the SK cosmetics, which I frequently buy on AMZN or @ WMT.

THAT is exactly my problem (diastasis). Depending on what I eat, sometimes I look 5 mos. preggo, sometimes 8 or 9 months preggo. Sad, I got all this work done, and now this. SMH.

I had a tummy tuck, breast lift and some spot lipo for my 60th birthday, (I am now 66) It was painful and pricey. I have not gained weight so cannot comment on whether the weight would appear elsewhere.

Great! Glad to hear everything came out well!
I've had my whole body done from head to toe EXCEPT my tummy. Thus, I need a TT b'cz all my weight gain is there. I just can't get RID of it.
What does this even mean? Or are you joking? To tell you the truth, I thought your asking where you can get cosmetic surgery on the cheap might have been a joke.

If you have a diagnosis, keep trying to get it approved by your insurance

I was on the list for a tummy tuck and I did get called ..the only thing is you
have to be ready to go when they call you ....usually not much notice and I
was not able to work in their time frame ....but as I said .. they are surgeons
they just are perfecting their cosmetic surgery skills ....
