Re: Philosophy- sub standard now, totally way over done, HYPE

I chuckle when they try to sell those "super-size" bottles. Really?? Who wants a year's worth of body lotion at one time? Won't it go bad before you use it all? We are ladies who like to change our products and scents often (well, some of us). I'd get tired of a super-size product long before I emptied the bottle. I want a smaller bottle so when it's gone I have an excuse to try something else!

But, yes, I think Philosophy is all hype. Any shower gel is going to get you clean, and any shower gel makes thick lather.

To answer your inquiry, I do {want a large bottle}and no, mine do not go 'bad' before I use them up, when using daily or most the time. I'm using Pure Grace super-size right now and opened it a little over 2-3 months ago. It is an Original bottle from before the formula changes and selling the company. It is still very good , thick, white and smells yummy and fresh. It was kept sealed while stored. It's almost 1/2 gone now, using it daily.

The only lotion that went bad was a smaller bottle of Baby Grace-but that was opened & left out for well over 2 years and still not finished. Same with the Amazing Grace lotion, which I wasn't fond of...and didn't use it much or everyday. It went bad after 3+ years sitting opened on the counter and had to be tossed.

So, they do last quite a while without going rancid. Well over a year and longer after first opened and exposed to air. And they won't get rancid, especially if they're being used frequently & daily; for me, the bottle will be gone in under a year. However, I am speaking of the Original Grace formula. I have not purchased new for a while now. Maybe that has changed with the ingredient changes.

I use some Philosophy products for skin care, not their fragrances, but find the QVC demonstrations a turn-off. It's so dramatic & the touting of them being 'life changing' gets very old real quick. Many makeup & skin care products that I like & use are not from QVC & never had the incessant, heavy duty sales pitch. I tried them from my own research, trial & error, etc, they worked for me, so I continue with them. Unfortunately tho, I believe most QVC demos try to lure the impulsive consumer who many not live where there are malls & other B&M stores to choose from & get pulled into the heavy sales pitch. Then expectations are so high, there is sure to be disappointment. I listened a bit last nite to the Fresh Cream presentation & that was a typical example of their hype.

I used to like their products, but I do think they have watered down their fragrance formulas. AG used to be much more potent and long lasting. Now the fragrance seems to dissipate as soon as it is applied. I used to be able to smell AG on my own skin throughout the whole day, now I do not.

I used to like the body washes and lotions, but they have totally changed and not worth the price. I doubt I would pay $2 for a bottle as it's just no good.

This brand has gone down the tubes. I won't waste another dime.

I watched the shows yesterday and it seemed to me that the prices have really gone up of many of the products. It used to be I could afford Philosophy, but when I watch it now it is overpriced for what they are offering. They don't tell us what ingredients make their products effective. All they usually do is show peaks in creme. Oh wow!!!

Isn't this what Q and others do with ALL their products? YEP it is.....every product, every demo, each time. That is what all stores do with all their products, especially in the fragrance and beauty department since that is the department that seems to have the most sales reps. Sephora, Ulta, etc.....they all do the same thing with the product they represent. Car salesmen, slap chop, doctors and the newest med the rep is pushing....it is called SALES.

Oh not to mention WEN! Same thing. Everyone's hair looks awesome because it is professionally styled....mine looks like that when I leave any salon, and so does yours.

I have wasted so much money on that product. I liked it when I first bought it, but no longer. I have to throw out all I have under my sink because it's all rancid. I can't even watch the presentations anymore even for five minutes, as that dark-haired rep's voice is like chalk on a blackboard to my ears. Too bad. Sooner or later the Q is going to realize it is not the same product and quit it.

Re: Philosophy- sub standard now, totally way over done, HYPE

I doubt many women actually buy skincare/makeup based on science. Here and there I'm sure there are those who need particular ingredients or need to stay away from particular ingredients, but I bet "scientific" research would show a huge majority of the purchases are based on something far more ephemeral - but I think that's true about lots of the money we spend on discretionary purchases whether they're for karats or cars or chocolate shower gel.

BTW- are there new Philosophy reps? I haven't seen any new reps for at least 5 years, probably more.
