Philosophy Fun @ Beauty Bash

As so many others have said in other threads, Beauty Bash was such great fun. I truly hope that each of you have the opportunity to attend this event or something similar in the future. This was my second time attending with my DH. My mom was going to come to Beauty Bash with us but became ill during the trip (had to stay behind at the hotel) and therefore we had to forfeit her ticket and box of goodies per policy. All of the vendors and staff were amazing but I’ll focus on Philosophy for this post.

When we entered the Bash, our mission was to find the Philosophy area first and we did find it all the way at the back wall spanning 1/3 – ½ the length. There were tables in front displaying the upcoming TSV (super size gel/lotion combo posted here previously), the Divine Illumination fragrance, many 3-in-1’s, upcoming products (fresh cream body butter included), etc.

Across the isle was a display of the Philosophy items included the in the enormous gift box each attendee received. The gifts were:

  • Miracle Worker Moisturizer 2oz
  • Field of Flowers Gel 16oz
  • Pure Grace Spray Fragrance 2oz
  • Purity Cleanser 4oz
  • Microdelivery Wash 4oz
  • Melon Daiquiri Lip Shine
  • Divine Illumination Eye Color Duo (Golden Stardust & Brown Sugar)

Behind the front display tables Philosophy had multiple stations set-up to do skin care makeovers and color cosmetic makeovers. All of the staff was wonderful – so friendly, happy, informative, and interested in comments/questions.

When DH and I first walked toward the Philosophy area, we were greeted by Jillian who miraculously remembered our names from Beauty Bash two years ago! Two years ago, she was the person that performed my DH’s skin care treatments but she didn’t know my screen name until this Beauty Bash. Talk about an amazing memory to go along with a warm and friendly person. She arranged for my skin care makeover and color cosmetic applications with the talented staff and also introduced me to Dara Lynn and two other wonderful ladies (forgive me for being terrible with names!). One is the Director of Customer Service (she performed my skin care treatments) and the other was responsible for developing the Divine Illumination Cosmetics (she applied my make-up). Dara Lynn is a wonderful person to talk too. We mainly discussed Summer Grace, my thoughts on the fragrance, the launch, the new foundation, etc. Talking with her was just like chatting with an old friend.

From start to finish, I was in the Philosophy area approximately 1hr to 1 hr 30 min.

SKIN CARE

Both DH and I had skin care makeovers. He was already using the MDW, HIAT, HIAJ, and WHINE (the blue bottle). I have most recently been using Purity & Miracle Worker products while incorporating the new Keep The Peace products too. We both use the Oxygen Peel and Microdelivery Peel.

The Philosophy staff goes over skin care concerns and their observations in addition to discussing your current routine and lifestyle. The skin is cleansed and either the Oxygen Peel or the Microdelivery Purifying Peel was applied (Microdelivery Peel would have been rather messy to being to fully clothed guests at the Bash). Both DH and & I had the Microdelivery Purifying Peel and really liked the results. My peel was followed my HIAT and the Miracle Worker moisturizer with the results being baby smooth glowing skin.

The tips and insight given during the session by the Philosophy staff was very helpful.

Purchase: bought the Microdelivery Purifying Peel from the QVC Store

COLOR COSMETICS

When the Divine Illumination collection was launched recently, I decided to wait until Beauty Bash before purchasing any of the items because I wanted to see the colors and make the right choices. I was so excited when I saw that Philosophy was performing cosmetic makeovers using these products in addition just having the opportunity to see the colors in person.

As I mentioned earlier, the wonderful woman that applied my make-up and educated me was responsible for the development of the Divine Illumination cosmetics line. If I remember correctly, she mentioned that she joined Philosophy from Bobbi Brown. My apologies for forgetting her name but she was absolutely wonderful and helpful!

Divine Cream to Satin Foundation (light): always apply immediately after your moisturizer since it was designed for that. Even though I had just had my skin care session completed a few minutes before, she reapplied the moisturizer for that reason. A tiny amount will be plenty of product – just keep blending and don’t over-apply. For a lighter coverage look – apply with a damp sponge (the Beauty Blender sponge was the first thing that popped into my mind when she said that). After applying the foundation, use your fingers to blend it – think how you run your hands through your hair right after leaving the styling…but running your hands across your face.

New Concealor Palette: to be launched at the end of May. It looks very similar to the concealor palette Philosophy had a few years ago (a few colors with an applicator in a rectangular compact) BUT this one has a setting powder and a double-sided applicator (one side is a small powder brush). The old version of the concealor always seemed to crease under my eyes after a short-time wearing it. This new concealor is wonderful and I will certainly be purchasing it. She applied it around 2pm and it was still there when I washed my face at midnight! I have dark circles and rarely go out without concealor – I’ve tried a lot of products and this one worked good on day 1.

Satin-Finish Illuminating Powder (light): aka “Pretty Powder” is applied over your foundation but under your blush/bronzer for a radiant glow. There is a bit of sparkle to it but not a silly amount for an adult creating a daytime look. It made my skin look awake.

Blushing Bronzer (medium): a very pretty natural warmth of a color. For those of you that usually wear the lightest foundation shade like I do, be aware that the light shade is very light. Medium looks natural on me.

Creamy Eye Color: these eye shadows really last. I am someone that has a very hard time finding shadows or eyeliners that will stay on regardless of that type of base/primer I use. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that these creamy shadows really do have lasting power.

Mascara: this mascara creates a soft touchable lash while still defining the lashes. I like it but I still find the Supernatural is my favorite.

Lip Gloss / Lip Stick: I ended up with Lilac Rose gloss and Ravishing Rose lip stick and love both shades. They feel wonderful and provide a very natural look.

Purchase: okay, so I purchased it all plus a few extra shades…but I felt like the prettiest mommy at the grocery store when I returned home from my trip. J

______________

Summer Grace – yes, it will be a seasonal fragrance (perhaps brought back each summer though – unclear). The person I spoke with was not aware of any body spritz to be joining the collection in the near future. So, stock up now ladies!

Divine Illumination Fragrance – will be launched in September and is a wonderful sophisticated fragrance. Very different from any of the current or past Philosophy fragrances. I’m still trying to figure out how to describe it. I was lucky enough to be given a small bottle at Beauty Bash and asked to provide feedback on a short questionnaire. I’m very honored and excited to have the opportunity and can’t wait for each of you to smell it as well.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the QVC Store had many gifts with purchase for the different vendors at Beauty Bash. Philosophy was offering a cozy black nightshirt with white lettering as their gift with a $40 purchase.
