Peter Thomas Roth night cream

Can anyone describe this cream? I opened a jar from my stash that was about a year old. I had purchased it shortly before finding out I was pregnant. Since it has retinol in it, I waited to use it. I am just wondering if the jar is still good? My jar has a yellowish tint and was very thick. It didn't have any bad smell. I think yellow color is making me question it?
