They fall into the 'weird girls' category....stalking & weird fascination..probably have pics of us in their locker!! =:0. Eeeps! Giggle
The way they follow me around is VERY CREEPY isn't it? Weird fascination is right.
Creepy? I think a little self-reflection might be in order here. No one follows you around. People read posts. You read a post from a cranky, snarky person, then look to the left and see what person is responsible for those words. A TON of those types of posts belong to YOU! You have quite a reputation around here. The words you use define you. You have earned your reputation.

If you want to have gross feet...fine...if you want to snark at me...fine...yes, everyone's situation is different, but everyone can be clean and well-groomed...if you don't know what that means, just look around...hopefully, you will learn quickly since most people do! What do those of you who don't seem to care about the "around the edges" part of daily grooming do for a career? You are judged...right or not though it may be...for the whole picture you present...why cut corners on the easy stuff...pedis or mani...professionally or personally done? The snarky attitudes won't get you too far in most professional settings...neither will sloppiness, and poorly groomed feet are part of sloppiness...it just is what it is...you can agree or not, and clearly,(and very unfortunately), many do not seem to get it. Yes, it is a small thing, but lots of small things are all too often ignored...Why?Maybe because not everyone agrees with you? Maybe because some people don't choose to abide by your earlier requirement that toes be polished? Maybe because you are judging blindly, not knowing the people whom you judge? Maybe because the tenor of your posts elicits a mental vision of a woman with pursed lips wagging her fingers in disdain at any who don't meet her exacting standards of good grooming?
A truly well-mannered person does what she feels is best and leaves it at that.
What do I do for my career? I work in a fast paced business casual office with other degreed professionals. Most of the women, not all, go without mani's and pedi's for their everyday look. We earn decent salaries.
It's my personal experience that the higher the degree you've earned, the less you go overboard on an overly made up look.
Did you ever notice if you walk into a professional person's office the one with "the look" is not the doctor or the lawyer or architect - it is the secretary. Professional people don't have time for all that nonsense - their working a zillion hours a week.

I can remember back in the 50's many women who wore makeup and had their hair done did not polish their toenails. I kind of look at it the same way I do teeth whitening. Some do and some don't. My personal preference is to polish my toes when I wear sandals but I know a lot of lovely, lovely, people who don't do these things and I still think they are lovely people. Ugly attitudes can also make you appear ugly. Did you ever see a guy or a gal leave a beautiful or handsome person for one who was plain but lovely? I have....many times!

I'm kind of curious. To those of you who say that you aren't talking about those who are disabled ... you say that you understand why or how someone disabled might not be able to do their pedicures. How exactly do you determine by looking at the person whether or not they pass your disability test?
Just wondering because someone just looking at me in passing would not necessarily know that I'm disabled. Those who know me understand. But you wouldn't know that my right hand isn't capable of gripping small things such as clippers, nail file, or polish brush. The elbow on that side does not extend fully, so that arm literally cannot reach my feet. It takes me forever to button a shirt, so I try to find clothes that have few buttons.
I wear "ugly" slip on shoes because I cannot tie shoe laces. I do not go around in a wheelchair, so my disabilities are not obvious. Not until someone sees me trying to access things in my purse (ack, the little zipper pull!), or trying to function in my house. Or, I suppose trying to get things off the shelf in the store. But watching me to that extent would be a tad creepy.
But I do not have the money to go get pedicures. Especially if it's just to please other people. My feet are clean and as groomed as I am able. I'm actually surprised at how many people who have routine grroming need to have things like corns and callouses "shaved" off because I don't have those things. I just wash and moisturize. Perhaps it's my ugly but sensible shoes.
I'm already in pain most of the time. I'll be darned others will tell me that I'm not 'allowed' to wear cool sandals when it's 100 degrees outside.
My ankles are ugly too. Deal with it. At least I'm clean.

I agree - people who are high maintainance (ie - self centered) are often not very pleasant to be around.
