I would like to know why his products are higher in cost than any other line on the Q? I have been hearing that when a product ingreds start with aqua or water, that after it has evaporated that it is useless? Do you think the cost has something to do with the doctors lifestyle? Hiring a rep that is high cost and can not tell a customer which costly product to use because the caller is on a limited income, Dana told her to buy both, like she herself does. Jill chimed in and told her QVC has a flex pay. How did this help the consumer to make an informed choice? Dana may look tan because she can afford to cruise to those islands for sun and fun. I do think that Dana just looks like a natural beauty, that doesn t need a foundation. Freedom of choice is ours to make, just my thoughts here.

Well, first I think you make alot of assumptions about Dr. Perricone and his rep, especially about their lifestyles and in the rep's case, how much she makes. No one really knows do they?

But back to your question. It may be just the prices are that high because he can get those prices.

They may also be because perhaps he does alot of studies and research for his products and ingredients, all of which can get super costly (drug research is a good example and why so many drugs are so very expensive).

Or perhaps the source of his ingredients and the way his products are manufactured (and where) costs more.

I don't know if any of this is true as I really don't know much about his products. The only people who can TRULY answer your questions about why his products are so high is the people at the company. Have you ever tried emailing them and asking? Not sure how far you'd get with answers but if you a really trying to find out the answers and not just indirectly trying to put down the company (NOT saying you are) then that might be your first step?

Oh Happy Days it will be when I can find out why his products are so costly. I have gone searching on the web for answers,to no avail, not much information given at all, yes indeed the cost of research is costly, depends on the extent of it and how the results are achieved. This board is full of assumptions, that is where people like you, can set us all in their seats, and-teach us all to Think just like you. I have been listening to Demetri of Skinn Cosmetics speak of how water as the first ingredient is not a good thing at all, also Manwela who is a chemist and makes products Isomers speaks of water not being the choice first Ingredient and why on ShopHQ.

oh the irony in your post is that apparently you actually want all of us to think like you and if we don't, you don't want to hear it. And I guess you truly were trying to put the company down and not really interested in other thoughts on the matter. Duly noted and lucky for you, I am done with this conversation! Wink

i knew it. demetri said it. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

perricone makes some very high quality items and they're very concentrated. he's certainly not the most expensive line on qvc either.

not every product is for everyone, which is why there are so many choices.

Check out Algenist, Kate Somerville, Dr. Brandt, Peter Thomas Roth. With some product exceptions, seem similar on some of their pricing.

Just a possibility, but I know part of the reason pharmaceuticals are so out-of-this-world-expensive is because of the cost of the research, clinical trials, FDA submissions, etc. And I've heard, but not sure it's accurate, that they have to sit on a pile of cash as a reserve insurance fund in case of lawsuits their insurance carrier won't cover.

So maybe it's something along those lines w/Perricone? I know he does a lot of his own research.

You are so right. I worked for a pharmaceutical company. It was not skin care but it took almost 6 years to get the product approved by the FDA. And then finally after it was finally approved we spent many months to get a batch of the product to come out right. We finally had to sell the company to J&J because we were out of product and couldn't make a batch that didn't fail.

The company had to have a boat load of money to run for more than 6 years before we actually made a penny. Who knows how long Dr Perricone worked on his products before he started to sell them.

Cost or not, my dermatologist said it's a waste of money. He gave me a prescription of Retin A, told me to use a broad spectrum SPF 30. I like Neutragena. I use oils almond oil, avocado oil I have tried Josie's but I like the Avocado oil better more moisturizing. He suggested Dove soap bar or another cleanser don't remember which one. Personally I love my Clean and Clear for sensitive skin (used it for years). I'm in my early 40's. No Botox yet, but I never say never! You don't need to spend a lot on sunscreen either! As far as the new OVM, I had to laugh, there are so many ways to use eggs, right out of your frig on your face or on your hair in variety of masks, and you don't need to pay 175.00 to do it! You tube has many videos for do it yourself facials with things like avocado and eggs, etc.
