Patchy blush

Ok, ladies, maybe this is something that's been addressed before but I haven't read anything on this forum addressing it, so I'm putting it out there. When putting on a tinted moisturizer, foundation or whatever I'm going to wear as a base, if I don't powder my cheeks over it (since most of the liquids/creams leave a somewhat moist finish), the powder blush will just stick to the areas where I apply it, in patches, and it's awfully hard to blend it out evenly. How do you all deal with this, without going through the extra powdering step? Do you just use a cream blush instead? I've tried sticking to powder foundations for this reason but I'd like to be able to wear liquids or creams and still get my blush to go on evenly. TIA

I have never liked powder blushes as they never have much staying power. I prefer a cream or liquid one. I just found Perricone's No Blush Blush and it is by far the best blush ever and doesn' wear off or blotch.

@Texasmouse I've had the same problem. I let moisturizers set before applying foundation, and foundation set before applying blush, but I still need to lightly powder the area before applying blush. I don't like cream blushes, so this step is my only option. I like using Laura Geller Balance & Brighten over my CC or liquid foundation anyway, so it works for me!

@Texasmouse I don't think you can avoid that extra powdering step. I haven't had a very good experience with cream blushes. They look nice when first applied, but it doesn't take long for them to just disappear. When I'm using a moist type of foundation I always dust Laura Geller Baked Elements over it and continue with the rest of my powdered products (blush, bronzer, powdered highlighter). I finish up with a little dusting of RCMA No Color Powder or Skinn Plasma Fusion Setting Veil on the T-zone, if needed.

Depends on the products used. Some foundations or tinted moisturizers, especially the newer "dewy" finishes, can feel tacky even 20 minutes or more after applying. If that's the case, I use cream blush, powder over the foundation, or switch to dryer foundation/tinted moisturizer.

I cannot wear powder blush for that reason. It never looks normal.

I only wear cream blush. The one I use isn't sold here or the other place.

I do like Laura Geller though. I sometimes use her's. She used to make sticks (chunky sticks) of makeup, blush, etc. They are wonderful because you can just pick it up in a hurry, take a swipe and blend.

I have problems with roscea (right now it's going crazy) so I have to be careful with the blush, otherwise I look like I have the worse sunburn in the world. Ha!

I would advise you though it's important to figure out what your basic skin color is. I mean we all have an 'underlying' skin color. Mine is pink (a makeup artist explained this to me, I'm not this smart).

To counter that pink I put on (QVC sells it) a thin makeup that just evens out my skin color and counters the red (it is almost green in color but super sheer). You can't see it, but it does the trick for me. Sometimes I don't wear any other liquid makeup.

People here on the forum are much better at all of this than I am and can tell you better about doing this. I'm just telling you what I do.

If you are going to apply any powder blushes, eye shadows, etc over liquid foundations etc, you must use a setting powder first. This is a basic concept of makeup application.

Question ..... Why would you even want to leave your face "wet"? If you do that, your foundation can smear off on clothing, your phone, etc. It can pretty much disappear by the end of the day.

There are many good translucent setting powders that disappear after application. If you don't want to do this, skip any powder blushes, etc because they will just "grab" on your skin .... and it's not a pretty sight.

i've been using a tinted moisturiser, letting it set and then using a powder bronzer and haven't had any problem.

it's possible that you may be putting too much blush on at a time because i don't use any powder at all. or, maybe your moisturiser is too heavy and not setting. i'm just giving you possibilities here. i hope you find something that works for you.

i also use a cream blush from IT and have no problem with it lasting on my face.

I prefer to use the cream/gel blushes. My best finds are Bobbi Brown's pot rouge and Doris Daltion (Doll 10). They both go on sheerer than they appear in the compact. You can build on the color if you like or not. They last and last and look very natural. Blend nicely.
