PTR Animal Testing Email Response

[ Edited ]

Hi All ! Here is a response to an email I sent to PTR CS and it couldn't be more vague IMO. I have not responded yet to have them explain why the bottles will no longer be labeled as cruelty free. I am assuming they were able to do it like Perricone and Isomers in order to sell to China ? This is just an FYI since I have seen others who say they didnt get a response from the emails they sent.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

We do not test on animals but the Chinese government does. This came to light long after our products were registered to sell there. It was recently announced that as of June this year, China will stop testing on animals.

Our newest packaging no longer says Animal Cruelty Free.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

That is absolutely wonderful that China is going to stop testing on animals this month! Hurray! I hope they really do this.

I agree. I am going to ask more questions, but thought it was important information for people to see. I agree that their CS is the worst but I got lucky I guess to get a response

Wow. I see what you mean. WE don't, THEY did, but they won't anymore, but NOW our packages will NOT say "cruelty free".

Say WHAT, now?

Does this mean China will stop testing on animals COMPLETELY or just on PTR products, I wonder?

Thanks for your efforts!

I don't get it. If China is going to stop animal testing, then why wouldn't their labels continue to say Cruelty Free"?

Re: PTR Animal Testing Email Response

Thank you for sharing this. I am glad they responded quickly to you. They were honest and I appreciate that. They responded to me awhile back after a loooong delay and it was similar to this but more of the generic "we don't test except when required by law" response.

It IS confusing though, about their labeling, as Maren stated.

I have not heard about China stopping testing so I will have to look further into that. Perhaps the way PTR CS wrote that was confusing and that what they really meant was that China just announced in June that they will be stopping testing, not that they meant that in June they will be actually stopping testing? I guess we will find out soon enough!

Re: PTR Animal Testing Email Response

That is the most ridiculous response I have ever heard to animal testing. He does test. Period. If he stops because of some new thing regarding China and testing, then when that time comes, make it clear.

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I do not trust this company. All over the net it says he's a tester. I also found some really upsetting info on my searches about some of his products actually harming your health.

I am a former PTR user.

This man needs to get his act together. He must think we are dumb and don't get out there and research. Well, many of us do! Many of us don't want animals tortured and killed for our cosmetics.

Re: PTR Animal Testing Email Response

Lovely, I must agree that they are, well, not being completely honest. In order to sell to China, they had to agree to the conditions and animal testing is one of those conditions (again, unless they meet the alternative criteria which PTR did not do) so there is no way it "came to light" AFTER they already agreed to sell there. Either that or the company's lawyers didn't read and explain all the fine print before they signed on the dotted line. But yeah, that part is not ringing true with me at all.

Re: PTR Animal Testing Email Response

The response says exactly what the Paula B site says, except for the added info on China ceasing testing. PTR does NOT test on animals - period. The product is sold in China, and China requires animal testing. The only control a manufacturer has is to not sell to China. I see nothing vague about the response at all.
