I recently saw my dermatologist for another issue, and I asked her about my splitting nails. She suggested that I take biotin, and she also mentioned a topical product called Genadur, it requires a prescription. It's made by a Swiss manufacturer, in Italy. Its water soluable, but the reviews on line were really good. However, very pricey and not covered by insurance. Has anyone used Genadur, and what results did you have. There is a similar product sold on Amazon (ships from Europe) that is about 10% of the cost of Genadur that also has very good reviews. I'm tempted to try it first. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

Andrew Lessman's Hair, Skin & Nails has good reviews. He's always having specials on HSN.

Please give us the name of the product we can get on amazon. You gave us great information but we need the name of the product that might work buying from amazon. You will not be held accountable if it does not work.

@Carolm I take Biotin and it really has helped make a difference in my nails. For the drying, brittle problem, I use a cuticle creme made in Switzerland called Mavala. It's the best thing I've tried. I'm sticking with it.

The product on Amazon is Isdin Betalfratus. I haven't compared the ingredients between the two products, so that is something to consider. Let me know if you order and whether or not it works for you. I will do the same.

Biotin does nothing for my hair, but always helps my nails. I need to start taking it again.

Thank you for the answer of what else we can use. I will try and figure it out.

I just looked up the Isdin Betalfratus and it is about $77 at amazon and it is a tiny bottle and it is for the appearance of nails and to fill in grooves one review I think and it says nothing about strength of nails.

I took high doses of Biotin for over a year and it did absolutely nothing. Lessman's hair and nails capsules gave me an upset stomach and also did nothin
I think the solution for good nails is in the genes and there's not much you can do to overcome bad ones. I've tried about everything in the marketplace to no avail.
