I just watched a presentation on the Beauty channel with Jill and MaryLynn presenting the Scent of Summer 3 piece set.  MaryLynn just said the formulation of these scents were made to last much longer.  Why in the world don't they make their regular scents such as Amazing Grace to last much longer.  This just doesn't make sense to me that she would say this.  I wore AG for years and loved it but it just doesn't last.  My dtr .sent me the Sea of Love set but the fragrance bottle was cracked and leaked all over everything in the box.  The scent was so strong it permeated the whole downstairs and gave me a bad headache.  I opened the body creme and it is very strong.  To me it smells like a man's scent.

Very disappointed in Coty for ruining the AG scent.

Re: PHILOSOPHY SCENT OF SUMMER

It is very disappointing.  I've been a loyal Philosophy customer for well over a decade...I use Hope in a Jar, Purity, shower gels, body butters...have several in the house now that I use regularly.  BUT...since Christina sold to Coty...the scents have changed!!  No longer as nice as they were...and they were the BEST before.  They'd go on and stay on throughout the day, without being cloying...just like a fresh breath of scented air...lovely.  I used AG, PG, FIL ...always got compliments, as well as could smell it on myself throughout the day.  Recent bottles I've gotten FIL (part of a Christmas set)...I spray and spray and spray...hardly smell it, even right after putting it on. Smiley Sad((. AG, PG...same.  I LOVED these fragrances, esp. AG and PG...but I don't think I'll be wasting my money on them again anymore when these are done.  What a SHAME, Philosophy!!  Customers have been complaining about this since the Coty buy-out...cannot be everyone's imagination....you see it here and in the reviews.  I wish they'd go back to the old formulas and save money elsewhere!  (like stop bringing out as many of these constant seasonals maybe, and improve what wasn't broke before again and products that were the company's mainstay!). ...that said about "seasonals"...I sure miss "Field of Flowers"...I have an old bottle...still good...love it, but getting to the end of it.

Re: PHILOSOPHY SCENT OF SUMMER

@WORKING GAL  I don't use perfume or colone, but do use Philosophy Amazing Grace Emulsion Body Lotion following my bath or shower every morning. Have been using it for years, even following the Cody fragrance change. Simply love the lotion; it never feels greasy and it is absorbed into moist skin quickly, which enables me to dress immediately.

Anyway, following my usual routine I worked around the house for a several of hours before taking my car in for an oil change and regular maintenance at the dealers. My appointment was at 11:00.  Decided to have their courtesy car/driver take me home rather than wait.

The driver was a female, perhaps in her mid-40's. We introduced ourselves. She knew immediately I was related to the owner. Shyly she began with, "I've never asked this question before, but what perfume are you wearing?"  I explained that ______ (my son) was allergic as a child and I've never worn perfumes or colognes. I simply wear body lotion. She said, "It's not overpowering or heavy like most customer's I drive around. Do you mind telling me what it is?" ME: "Thanks for such a nice compliment! It is such a light scent that I'm unable to smell it. It's Philosophy Amazing Grace Body Lotion. It's available from Dillards, on-line or QVC. I purchase two 32 oz. bottles for around $85.00 from QVC, which last a very long time. You've made my day. Thanks, again for the compliment!"

Our conversation went on about her living abroad as a missionary in warm, humid weather (similar to what Nebraska is having today). She returned to Lincoln to care for her aging father, who had passed away last year. She knew all about my mom's long illness with dementia and her death last summer; gave her condolences. What a dear woman with an amazing memory for her employer's families! Sent an email to her supervisor with high recommendations and thank you for excellent service.

Anyway, Philosophy Amazing Grace Emulsion Body Lotion DOES have a lingering scent. Usually it's men who tell me how nice my fragrance is. This is the first time another female has noticed! I'm still pleased with Amazing Grace. Smiley Happy

Re: PHILOSOPHY SCENT OF SUMMER

The AG emulsion is exactly what I use too - only this.  And you (and I) continue to receive these complements, why?  Because you cannot "overdo" the fragrance this way.

I cannot TELL you how many women I encounter that KILL themselves with AG!  It is literally choking. I'll never understand why some women douse themselves in spray fragrances/perfumes.  What are they trying to hide????
