Re: PETER THOMAS ROTH TSV- buyer beware!!

This reminds me that many years ago you could go to the factory outlets to find real bargains. Shortly after  that as it got popular to shop there, manufacturers started to make their products to sell directly to the factory outlets which generrally means a lower quality to match the price. As mentioned, whenever I hear that something is specifically made for a shopping channel, especially if it's from a high end brand, I think they've cut some corners somewhere down the line.

Well this explains how they say you can have 467.00 worth of product for 75.00. Then they say we are "giving" you a product. They do not give anything away.

Are you reading actual labels from the actual product containers? Or, reading an ingredient list from the Q & other websites?

Very interesting.  I wonder if a lot of the larger size/super size items at QVC are watered down too.  (Philosophy?)   I no longer buy PTR products, but nice to have this information.

Re: PETER THOMAS ROTH TSV- buyer beware!!

After reading your post I checked the product in his website. Looks like the ingredient list there matches QVC's. I'm assuming the ingredient list on his website should be accurate. I hope anyway, since I already ordered the 6 oz bottle and have been using this product for years.

Here's what bugs me:

I think the majority of customers (myself included) are assuming/expecting that the product aired on QVC (or HSN or Evine) when appearing in IDENTICAL packaging as what we'ver purchased/can purchase in a store or directly from the vendors site IS THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT. Am I wrong in this? I expect it to work, smell, look and be in EVERY WAY IDENTICAL. The ONLY reason I would buy it from QVC is the deal they are offering...why else would I buy it from them?

When I hear "made especially for QVC", I'm thinking the CONFIGURATION  of the kit is only available at QVC. Often, the product is shown here first and a few months later, it's available elsewhere. Have no issue with QVC being a launch pad for a new item; in fact, it's a bit genius of both- QVC gets the sales and the vendor sees if the product does well. Beyond that, it SHOULD be identical. If not, fess up.

Of course they won't but then... doesn't this make them a liar regarding their products? Why would you want to purchase from them if they are not being honest regarding the ingredients but the container and packaging is the same? Why don't they use different packaging, therefore?

Makes you wonder.

I certainly expect the product to be the SAME, unless we are told differently.

Perhaps they sell only a certain kit on QVC, but the product better be the same unless they tell us.

Re: PETER THOMAS ROTH TSV- buyer beware!!

I no longer purchase PTR products.  A while back I started to notice inconsistencies with his products.  In particular, his Mega Rich Cellular creme had such a strong chemical smell that I could not use it.  I mailed one jar back to his office, after contacting them by phone regarding the issue.  I never heard back from them, but then his CS was always subpar.

The Retinol PM which I used and liked for some time just seemed different (more watery) and I could not see any benefit to my skin.  It was money wasted.

i appreciate the original poster bringing this issue to light!  I would bet that PTR is well aware of it.  It is all about the money.

Thanks for the wake-up call. Is QVC  watering down other supersized beauty products?  I hope not.  These supersized products are too big for me.  I like the products in smaller sizes.

Re: PETER THOMAS ROTH TSV- buyer beware!!

The QVC ingredient deck makes much more sense. Since the retinol concentration is only 1.5%, obviously it should be listed after the water and the silicones which make up the base of the product. The same with the vitamins listed. As another poster pointed out the QVC ingredient list matches PTR's website list. I think the company you all should be getting irate with is Sephora, who adjusted the ingredient list to show the actives before the water.
