Re: Osteoporosis Question...............

Dairy is not necessarily the best food for combating osteopenia and osteoporosis. A Harvard study showed that milk can actual increase fractures. It would be better to increase leafy greens like collard greens, broccoli, and kale. My mother is 86, she has been a vegetarian for the past 25 years, consumes very little dairy, loves greens. She does not have osteoporosis. I used to drink a lot of milk, at 62 I have been diagnosed with osteopenia. I am now a vegan and I hope at the least I can halt progression.

I have taken Evista for years. The last renewal was a generic. I guess it got too expensive for the insurance company.

halfpint, as of April 2014, Evista was available for generic distribution. That is why you have the generic form just as I do. I've been taking Evista for 2 years now, every night.

Re: Osteoporosis Question...............

I guess my Previous post from earlier this morning was Poofed, for whatever reason. So, let's try this again. I wanted to Thank everyone for their advice, concerns and well wishes. I could not bring myself to start on Fosamax. I went to our local health food store and met with a VERY knowledgeable lady about another direction I could go. And, after a 2 hour discussion, I have chosen to go with some natural supplements. She went into detail about each product and what works with what and how and when to take each, and, so on and so forth. I have not had any peace about taking this medication after some research and what some of you ladies have experienced.

I know everyone is going to be affected differently with meds., but, I feel for right now, the supplements is the way I want to go. There is one product that I picked up that has Proven Clinical Studies that it does strengthen bones. It is called Grow Bone. The lady I met with told me of several scary cases with the Fosamax, where one had died. So, I just want to try to be as safe as I possibly can. With Prayers and well wishes for Good Health to each of you. GOD BLESS!
