I never "obey" the 3 month rule and have not had any issues. IMO it's a marketing ploy IMO.

 

If they have never been opened, just use them. You are not going to go blind.

Thanks for posting that @ahoymate .  I have some unopened mascaras that are older.  I plan on using them - unless they are dried out or smell funny.  

 

They have been stored in a cool, dry place.

Yes, and do you think dept. stores or suppliers go thru mascara and throw it out after 3 mos? No.

 

Nordstrom told me this as I used to buy their yearly buy 3 get one mascara free.

Well now, even if I am home alone, I will put on mascara EVERY DAY!
