Ok, this is WHY I signed on, to post this...

Do you ever sign on to post something and then get quickly sidetracked on other threads? I bet I am not alone. SO! I saw the Tarte eye liners and thought OK, I am going with the less chemical approach more often. I proceed to look up the ingredients and so forth...(Gasp) aaah, why are they even claiming to be natural, might as well just come out and tell people they are stupid. The entire body of this product is highly chemical, just disappointed that I have to moniter claims. Yes, the clay is at the very very end.

It might work great, but I think the format is very misleading.

Did they claim to be natural or did they claim there are no parabens & things that are bad for you?

Tarte specifically emphasizes their natural factor, being careful to avoid entrapment, it is misleading because they go on and on about the "clay".

I just did the same thing. Listened to the presentation say good for you ingredients, won't irritate your eye, etc...looked up the ingredient deck and saw synthetic beeswax and a synthetic colorant among other things that are used as binders. Not sure what other yucky stuff is...at least I think that is what LR said "yucky stuff".

Some companies choose to use the Latin names for some of their plant ingredients. I don't know if this is the truth with Tarte though.

Sorry, but although I know some people don't like silicones for one reason or another, usually the feel of them, there is no known danger in using them.

This is why I am very wary of sites like truthinaging. The writer of this piece even admitted there were no known problems but just fear-mongered nonetheless.

As for Tarte, they want to sell. And what sells these days is the word "natural," even if it has no meaning whatsoever and even if the ingredients that Tarte and other similar companies demonize are perfectly safe and effective.

Well, yeah, I can see your point. But, some people are sensitive and they are the ones who are looking for the natural products. Tarte's spiel is questionable when they tout highly the natural factor when they are anything but.
