i was wondering if anyone with oily skin can help me. I do put on a primer prior to applying my foundation. Later in the day when I look in the mirror I see that my skin looks oily and that foundation has settled in my pores. It doesn’t look pretty! Does anyone have this happen and if so is there a remedy for This? Thanks in advance!❤️

@Happy2000twou You may want to consider a mattifying primer. Be sure you're not using an oily moisturizer or spf. There are ones made specifically for oily skin types. Lastly, look for a lighter weight foundation that's also matte and labled for oily skin.
Watch for signs that your skin may become too dry with these changes and adjust one or two products to add back some moisture.

Yes this has been an issue for me since I went into menopause...instead of my skin getting drier as I age it's gotten more oily. So a few things, I don't really wear foundation anymore, I wear a bb or cc cream. Once in awhile I will wear a long wearing foundation. Try to find oil free versions of cc, bb, tinted moisturizers, and foundations. I found that no matter what I use I have to blot my face at least once a day. This extra oil is what's making your face look 'textured'. I find once I blot, my skin looks much better. Also, I always powder after putting on a base, whether it a cc cream or foundation. A makeup spray can help, I've been using the Skindinavia makeup finishing spray.
I personally have had no luck with primers, and I've tried many, but I know a lot of people find them helpful. As far as pores go, I know they make primers specifically for this issue. I believe Benefit makes one you can try. But honestly I've found blotting my face with a tissue takes away a lot of the issues for me. Also, I wear a mattifying moisturizer underneath. The Sephora brand makes a nice one and so does Murad.

@Happy2000twou This is my experience, but I know it's a battle that can only be done with trial & error. And, then once you find something that works, something else changes (the weather, hormones, they discontinue your product...) & you have to start all over!
If my foundation is settling into my pores it's because I am using something too dewey. Either under my makep, over my makep, or my makeup itself.
Skincare-My skin is combo/oily/easily dehydrated/old/& breaks out from anything too rich or anti aging.
For daytime I am loving PTR Acne Clear Oil Free Matte Moisturizer. I am surprised that it is hydrating, not drying & doesn't break me out. Very nice. I also like Lancome Bienfait Aqua Vital. Light hydration. No treatment ingredients.
PTR also has a great moisturizer with SPF30 Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion.
PM-I am using Dr Denese HydroShield Hydrating Dream Cream.
I use argan oil to break down my makeup & First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. Even face wash that claims to be for normal/dry skin can make my face dehydrated. I will notice it around my eyes & I always jump to slapping on more or different eye cream & then realize that I have used a different face wash & it is too drying. You have to watch everything that is going on.
I have tried primers, but never found one that gives me any extra benefits-smoothing, filling, longer lasting makeup, so for me, it is an extra unneccesary step. If I get my skincare right, I am good.
Liquid foundation works the best for my oily skin. I have not found a powder foundation that gives me the oil control that I get with liquids.
1. Tarte Tinted Treatment BB Primer SPF30-It is a great, light foundation. Sort of mousse like feel. Not a lot of coverage, but evens out the skin tone & I don't get oily with it.
2. Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup SPF15-Again, fancy name, just a nice light foundation.
3. Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF15-Light to Medium coverage-My favorite foundation. I apply less than I think I need & blend it out with my fingers & it covers fairly well. I don't try to look "flawless". I don't have pretty skin & adding too much makeup to look perfect just looks like a lot of makeup.
I wear powder over any foundation-except for my Becca Ever Matte Shine Proof because it is the most matte foundation I have ever used. It looks like it has been discontinued, though.
I recently discovered Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Setting Powder. It. Is. Amazing. I bought 2 of the small containers in Butter & Lavender. On me they both seem like a translucent powder, but, BUT it slides on like silk, makes my skin look softer & smoother & keeps me matte all day. My makeup looks as nice at the end of the day as it did when I applied it. It doesn't break me out! And, it smells like Dior Hypnotic Poison!
I don't know that it is magic for everyone, but I LOVE it!
So that is what works for me. I know how hard it is to find what works for each one of us.
Good luck to you.

I have very oily skin. I use moisturizers for oily skin and make sure that all of my skin care is absorbed well before applying making. I use a primer for oily skin (Laura Mercier) and I use a longwear foundation. I apply only a light layer of foundation and then set with a powder. I find that my make up lasts much longer this way. I would use blotting sheets throughout the day instead of piling more powder on top of my skin.

I'm 72 and my complexion is as oily today as it was when I was a teenager. I agree to use products that are oil-free, water based. A primer made for oily skin is helpful. I've used Cover Girl AquaSmooth compact foundation since my 30's. I've tried a hundred other foundations over the years, but the AquaSmooth applied with a brush works best for my complexion. Also, I use blotting tissues and finishing powders. Clease well to keep your pores cleaned out - I suggest a "charcoal"-type scrub once or twice a week.
What works for me may not work for you -- we're all different.
The good thing is your skin will not wrinkle much as you get older. I cursed my oily skin in my youth, but now I'm glad to have it. I may have some large pores on the sides of my nose that can be camoflaged with primer, but no wrinkles yet. (I know my day will come)

@Happy2000twou I feel your pain. I have been battling oily skin since my teen years and I don't want to say how long ago that was! I agree with all the suggestions. One thing that seemed to make a difference for me was adding a small dab of Paula's Choice Shine Stopper to my primer. This product can be used alone as a primer but I found it didn't do quite enough but mixed with any other primer, it keeps me looking oil free a lot longer. Good luck in finding the routine that is best for you!
